First the Blade is a ministry to seminary families that was initiated by seminary faculty who saw the struggles of many seminary student families to support their children’s education in the Adventist school system. Its initial vision was to provide limited funding for Adventist education for these children. As the ministry has evolved, its mission and vision have expanded to include other forms of support for seminary student families that includes resourcing, counseling, parents’ night out, and other new ventures such as a children’s author program.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the antireligious policy of the Soviet government, which was carried out by the communist regime in Ukraine in the cultural and educational spheres to completely eradicate religion from the lives of the Soviet people. The main purpose of atheistic propaganda was to convince ordinary people that religion and its bearers were enemies of the communist state. This paper chronicles the process of how an informal group of Holocaust survivors in Bratislava organized into a senior citizens club that gradually evolved into a source of civic activism directed at the majority of society. Based on qualitative research: repeated interviews with survivors in Bratislava about their experiences of the Holocaust and the Communist era, which the author has carried out from 1995 to the present. Located in the Oussouye Department approximately 43 kilometers away from the city of Ziguinchor in the Basse Casamance region of southern Senegal is the Oussouye commune where I had the pleasure of staying for three weeks. I had learned that the inhabitants of this village were not significantly impacted by the Covid-19 virus since it became global knowledge at the start of 2020. Many modern problems arise from the misinterpretation of the Bible, unfortunately. One of my best Church History teachers Amadeo Molnár at the Protestant Faculty in Prague told us: “The history of the Christian Church is the history of the interpretation of the Bible.” At first, I doubted this statement’s truth, but after some reflections, I understood. Divisions were created and wars were fought because of certain dogmas, and millions were tortured, killed, or enslaved due to specific ideologies and wrong belief systems by believers. So many atrocities were committed in the name of God!

A crucial theme throughout Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee is the struggle between individual morality and collective consciousness, as exemplified by black and white relations in the American South. In this thesis, I explore the biblical concept of a “watchman” as referenced in the novel’s title and what conclusions can be drawn from delving into the literary and biblical contexts of this allusion. I utilize this as a framework to explore how and why the characters of Watchman exist in such fragmented, defensive states as opposed to their Mockingbird counterparts, and what these differences imply regarding the importance …

Haneke Avec Foucault: The White Ribbon, Religion, And Violence, Bradley L. Herling

Journal of Religion & Film

This article utilizes Michel Foucault's characterization of the Christian pastorate to examine The White Ribbon (2009), directed by Michael Haneke. Foucault's framework assists us in inspecting the nature of the Protestant community depicted in the film, its systems of discipline, repression, and control, and the bond between these systems and the violence that erupts as the plot unfolds. Reading Haneke avec Foucault thus sheds light on the broader problem of "religious violence," while also drawing out the sometimes submerged but skillful interpretation of religion proposed by these two auteurs.

For centuries, the dinar and dirham have been recognized as the most stable and sharia-compliant official trading instruments. In Indonesia, dinars and dirhams may be used with specific qualifications. However, the precedent for arresting scholar Zaim Saidi for organizing a muamalah market using dinar-dirham is a bad practice of punishing innovation in the use of dinar-dirham, which reduces the development of the sharia economy in Indonesia. The acquittal of the Depok District Court (PN) No. 202/Pid.Sus/2021/PNDpk proves the ignorance of the state (in this case, the police and the prosecutor's office) regarding the concept of using dinars and dirhams themselves. …
