The paper employs the example of the Canaanite conquest and argues that, contrary to popular attacks against the character of God, this event in scripture actually demonstrates His goodness. Within the spectrum of doubt, divine hiddenness becomes a problem regarding the love of God. Why would a loving God allow individuals whom he loves, if he loves everyone, to maintain ? According to philosopher John Schellenberg, the existence of rational nonbelief poses a problem for divine hiddenness which provides a reason to believe that God does not exist.

There have been numerous books written on the top objections to Christianity—sometimes stated as “common,” “major,” “frequent,” “every day,” “cultural,” “tough,” “difficult” objections. However, there is a dearth of behavioral studies in the literature that show how and given population ranks objections to Christianity. As such, the apologist has had to rely on expert opinions from the books that have been authored. Barriers To Belief: Why Do The Resistant Resist God?

Barriers to belief in God and Christianity in an increasingly antagonistic culture are considerable. Reasons for resisting belief were studied in an intellectually-driven population of educated atheists in Western culture (N = 50) through survey and interview analysis. This mixed-method research study evaluated a broad range of functional (socio-cultural, psycho-emotional, existential, experiential, moral, volitional) and substantive (intellectual and spiritual) variables influencing disbelief. Based upon extensive data collection, these findings advance the case for viewing obstacles to belief as diverse, interactive, and complex in nature. We offer an archaeological analysis of the visual display of “space heroes” and Orthodox icons in the Russian Zvezda module of the International Space Station (ISS). This study is the first systematic investigation of material culture at a site in space. The ISS has now been continuously inhabited for 20 years. Here, focusing on the period 2000–2014, we use historic imagery from NASA archives to track the changing presence of 78 different items in a single zone. The subject of these hermeneutical and performative approaches to the biblical texts and the liturgical dimensions and metaphors in the Book of Revelation are of particular interest to this dissertation, whose ultimate goal is to ask how the Byzantine rites, as practiced in the Orthodox Church, actualize the liturgical dimensions of the Book of the Revelation. Positive Psychological Transformation: A Mixed Methods Investigation Into Catalysts And Processes Of Meaningful Change, Nick Fortino, Paul Dommert Jr., Nadia Santiago, Jen Smith

International Journal of Transpersonal Studies Advance Publication Archive

This mixed methods study investigated the experience of positive psychological transformation, including its catalysts, dynamics, supportive factors, and outcomes. The first phase of the study was a 13-item survey (N=130) that revealed trends and associations in participants’ experiences of transformation. The most significant correlation was between “expressing myself” and change stabilization (p < .01). Forty-four percent of participants reported trauma or emotional distress as the main catalyst of their transformation. Each of the other three main catalysts (dissonance, adaptation, and inspiration) drew approximately 18% of responses. Connecting with nature (71%), introspection (65%), solitude (63%) and empathy (61%) were commonly reported supportive factors. Common changes related to participants’ way of interacting with others (77%), perception (75%), and emotional patterns (70%). The process of transformation differed substantially depending on multiple factors including the catalyst and demographic categories. Additionally, the survey revealed a trend of moving away from organized religion toward a sense of being spiritual but not religious. The second phase of the study consisted of interviews with a portion of the participants who reported trauma as the main catalyst of their transformation (n = 26) and was focused on the experience of posttraumatic growth. Thematic analysis revealed that transformation is typically initiated by a series of traumatic events and that the process of transformation can involve impaired well-being/functioning before elevated well-being/functioning. The results of thematic analysis were consistent with existing data on posttraumatic growth.

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى بيان المقصود بالدعوى الكيدية، وذكر أسبابها، وتوضيح طرق علاجها في الفقه الإسلامي، وتناولت تعريف الدعوى الكيدية، والأمثلة عليها، ونصوص تحريمها، وطرق علاجها في الإسلام.

وخلصت الدراسة إلى الأمور الآتية:

- إنّ الدعوى الكيدية باطلة ومردودة، وقد حرّمتها نصوص الشريعة الإسلامية.

- إنّ ما اشتمل عليه تاريخ المسلمين من الدعاوى الكيدية هو عدد قليل جدا؛ نتيجة لمعالجة الإسلام لهذه الدعاوى، وتطبيق العقوبات الرادعة لها.

تتناول هذه الدراسة موضوع الحداثة من حيث التعريف والنشأة، ثم عرضت الدراسة للمشروع الحداثي العربي مبينة أهدافه وخصائصه وأهم رواده، وعمدت إلى قطب من أقطاب الحداثة العربية وهو محمد أركون في دراسة تطبيقية لمنهجه التشكيكي في دراسة القرآن الكريم، متبعة في سبيل ذلك المنهجين الاستقرائي والتحليلي النقدي. وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى جملة من النتائج منها: أن من أهم سمات القراءة الحداثية للنص القرآني رفع القداسة عن النصوص الشرعية، ومحاولة إعادة صياغة الرؤية لهذه النصوص، بوضعها في مصاف النصوص البشرية، وذلك من خلال عدة ممارسات ستكشف عنها هذه الدراسة.

هذه دراسة لجملة من انفرادات القارئ يعقوب الحضرمي في الأفعال وأثرها في بلاغة النظم، حيث اشتملت الدراسة على نبذة مختصرة عن يعقوب الحضرمي وراوييه -رحمهم الله تعالى-، ثم تناولت بعض انفرادات الحضرمي فيما يتعلق بالأفعال، وأثر تلك الانفرادات في بلاغة السياق والنظم الذي وردت فيها. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن قراءات القرآن تعطي معناها في سياقه ونظمه بما يبهر العقول والقلوب دون أن تتضاد مع القراءات الأخرى أو تقصر عن بلاغتها فكل كلمة في مكانها هي الأبلغ.

تتناولُ هذه الدراسة موضوعَ الجزاء الدنيويّ للفِسقِ والفاسقين في القرآن الكريم، حيث عدَّ القرآن الفسقَ من أمهات المنكرات والذنوب فجاء الحديثُ عنها في هذه الدراسةِ مبيِّناً حقيقة الفسقِ وأنواعَه وجزاءَ كلِّ نوعٍ من أنواعه وكلّ صورةٍ من صُوَره.

هذا وقد خَلُصَ الباحث إلى أنَّ الفِسقَ من أخطرِ الذنوب؛ لذلك رتَّبَ الشارع الحكيم عليه جملةً من العقوبات التي تتفاوتُ قوةً وضعفاً وزيادةَ ونقصاناً على قَدَرِ التغول في هذه الآفة الخطيرة.
