As we develop a contact/membership tracking database, we want to make sure that we have accurate information. In a subsequent letter, therefore, I'll be asking you to provide/verify information such as your address, telephone number, fax number, etc. I will also be asking each of you to indicate the level of financial support (if any) that you are considering so that we can develop a !998/99 budget. (We must provide the IRS with a copy of our proposed budget as part of the filing process)

Tom is working on developing an official flyer/brochure to distribute in response to inquiries. If you have suggestions regarding content or would like to assist with this effort, please contact Tom directly.

Dan is currently working to incorporate the Society in the state of Wisconsin. We have obtained all required forms from the IRS and are currently evaluating the most appropriate status to apply for at the federal level. I'll Keep you apprised of direction and progress.

The Society expects to provide the following membership contribution levels, although we are still working out the details of the specific benefits to be offered at each level:

We recently called Andrew Farkas for news about his biography "Jussi," written with the tenor's widow Anna-Lisa. Although it was published barely 22 months ago, the book is already in its second printing - and may well need a third printing in early 1999. Sales seem to be strongest in the US and the UK, but surprisingly not so strong in Sweden. Mr. Farkas guesses that may be due to the existence of Mrs. Bjorling's earlier biography in Swedish. Since "Jussi" started from a translation of that work, and follows it closely in the early chapters about Jussi's youth, Swedish …
