Playing Without Pain, Francesca Leo

Honors Projects

Musicians across all career stages experience performance-based pain and injury, and due to demanding rehearsal and performance schedules, collegiate musicians are uniquely vulnerable to these conditions. To provide collegiate musicians the most effective coping mechanisms for performance-based pain and injury, it is important to first understand the extent to which collegiate musicians are affected by these conditions. The purpose of this multi-tiered study was to create a customized web resource to connect collegiate musicians with local, accessible treatment and prevention options. The University Honors Program

Over the decades, music training becomes more popular, and more and more senior students are intended to enter the entertainment industry. Instrumental performance degree becomes more competitive compare to the past fifteen to twenty years, and because of this high level of competitiveness, the quality of it increase, more outstanding young artists are trained. The early training lay the foundation of one’s ability and future. This research paper explores the potential challenges and issues regarding to instrumental teaching, and generate the ideas to music teacher on their awareness on these issues.

Alzheimer's Disease And The Impact Of Music Therapy: A Systematic Literature Review, Hayley Guess

James Madison Undergraduate Research Journal (JMURJ)

Although a cure for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has yet to be discovered, several non-pharmacological treatments can improve patients’ quality of life and provide temporary relief from the disabling symptoms. One of these treatments is music therapy. This systematic literature review evaluates the existing research on the relationship between Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and music therapy, with a narrowed focus on familiar music therapy, the potential mechanisms of action that explain the efficacy of this intervention, and the resulting nursing implications that may be utilized in practice.
