Feminist Criticism Of Classical Rhetoric Texts: A Case Study Of Gorgias' Helen, Susan L. Trollinger

Despite the diversity of claims feminist scholars of antiquity advance, they share at least one preoccupation: the critique of patriarchy. That is, they challenge "the manifestation and institutionalization of male dominance over women" (Lerner 239) enacted in primary and secondary texts. The particular methods by which they make their critiques of women's subjugation vary as much as their claims, but most can be classified into one of two categories according to their broad interests in woman as a reader or as a writer of classical texts. Although the influence of the Chinese culture on Ezra Pound has long been recognized in the study of his Cantos, the question of whether his work should be regarded as a "transmission" or an "invention" requires a more substantial consideration of both his work and the Chinese tradition. This thesis attempts to supply an evidence to T. s. Eliot's answer to the question about Pound's status regarding the Chinese culture--namely, that Pound was "the inventor of the Chinese poetry for our times." The Courier
This article provides some details about the life of the English poet Philip Larkin. This enigmatic man wrote some of the best poetry in the English language of the twentieth century. His work had a lasting effect upon readers. After that of Sir John Betjeman, Larkin's verse was probably the best-loved of any contemporary poetry in the United Kingdom.
