English Contemporary Opinion Of The American Civil War, Vorice Jackson Waters

This thesis, submitted to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Xavier University in partial fulfillment of requirements for a Master of Arts degree in 1947, presents a survey of British public opinion during the entirety of the American Civil War. Drawing on contemporary newspapers, pamphlets, letters, diaries, parliamentary speeches, and official government records, the study analyzes the conflicting opinions expressed by individuals, organizations, and government officials in England from the outbreak of hostilities through the conclusion of peace. The thesis finds that English upper and middle classes generally sympathized with the Confederacy, influenced by historical parallels to the …

List of 39 recommendations for creation of a war memorial room and sketches. This material is housed in UA3/2/1 President's Office - Garrett, Student Union Building. A war memorial room was created in the student union (Garrett Conference Center) when it was built in 1952-1953. This manual is intended to help personnel using foreign maps. It contains guidelines for evaluating foreign maps. It contains summary information about the mapping systems of countries, primarily participants in World War II, along with samples of foreign maps. Several pages each are given to:

(a) British Military Maps
(b) French Military Maps
(c) German Military Maps
(d) Italian Military Maps
(e) Russian Military Maps
(f) Japanese Topographic Maps
(g) Chinese Military Maps

Series 2, Correspondence from Rose Price

This collection contains correspondence written by Master Sergeant Willson Henry Price, United States Marine Corps to his family during the Second World War, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Price was a Navajo Code Talker during the Second World War, and he is honored on the Code Talker Monument in the Window Rock Navajo Tribal Park in Arizona. MSgt. Price sometimes wrote his first name with one "L" on mailing envelopes, but signed his name at the end of letters with two 'LLs.'
