Southern Baptist Missions In China 1945-1951, Garnett Lee White
Master's Theses
This thesis developed from a seminar paper on the South China Mission of the Southern Baptist Convention, 1945-1951, prepared for Dr. R. Barry Westin in the tall of 1965. Though the scope of this present study includes Southern Baptist Missions in all of China during the same period, its purpose remains the same. That purpose is to present the course of the evangelical outreach or this large Protestant denomination, and the progress made in establishing an indigenous Christian movement in China before the Communists forced the withdrawal of all missionary personnel.

The Philosophy Of Ramdas, James Weldon Plaugher
The Philosophy Of Ramdas, James Weldon Plaugher
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The name "Ramdas," which will be used extensively throughout this paper to refer to the principal subject, is an example of the Indian custom of using only one name for great men. Usually it is the first name, or a name used after taking up "the new life." Another custom practiced is that of having the name carry religious connotations. In Ramdas' case, the first part, "Ram," stands for God, and the "das" stands for servant. Ramdas' name in his early life was Vittal Rao.
The Chinese Community In Malaya, Singapore And British Borneo, Ralph E. Lierheimer
The Chinese Community In Malaya, Singapore And British Borneo, Ralph E. Lierheimer
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
The Chinese community in Malaya, Singapore, and British Borneo, as in all of Southeast Asia, is in the early stages of a radical change. This ethnic group, which already holds virtual control of the economy of these three regions, is now finding it necessary to also reach out for political representation, or even political control, in order to preserve its place in local society.
Such participation in local affairs constitutes a great change for a group which has always maintained an orientation toward China, socially and politically, wherever its individuals might happen to live. The process of change is bound …

Japan's Foreign Policy, 1931-1941 : As Influenced By The Militarists And The Zaibatsu, William F. Hecomovich
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
There are the ways in which Japan was prepared for war. The purpose of this paper will be to show how the militarists achieved the power that they did, power so great that it enabled them to go over the heads of, and the protests of, the civilian branch of government and even the Emperor himself if necessary. The history of the warlords needs to be examined in order to furnish a background needed for a study such as this.
The primary function of this investigation will be to show the role played by these two factions during the “decisive …
