In October 1957, a scientific inspection was conducted by L.Y. Rahmani, following an unauthorized excavation that was carried at Kibbutz Nahshon (map ref 1960/6370). A burial cave that was dated to the Byzantine period was exposed in the excavation, which was conducted by Kibbutz members A. Ori and Z. Hanina.

In April–May 1956, a trial excavation was conducted in Tel ‘Ali (Map ref. 25270/73390), the second of four excavation seasons (see JIPS 2 [1961]:58–59), in the lands of Alumut farm, south of the area that was excavated the previous year. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by M. Prausnitz. In the current excavation, the third phase was unearthed, which was dated entirely to the Chalcolithic period.

In December 1956, an excavation was conducted near the northern gate of the Tirat Zvi group (map ref. 249875/703250), following the exposure of a burial cave during earth mining. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by N. Zori with the assistance of Y. Reifen of Tirat Zvi group (surveying). The cave was badly damaged during the mining and the excavators encountered difficulty revealing the finds in situ due to the rainy weather.

In 1956–1957, an excavation was conducted at the Ashqelon marina (map ref. 15855/62089). The excavation, carried out by the Ashqelon Museum on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by J. Hevesi. The excavated site is located on a hill c. 200 m from the beach and overlooks it, about 20 m west of the Roman Tomb. The remains of a complex of structures, comprising four construction phases, were exposed.

In 1954, a trial excavation was conducted in Tel Kinrot (map ref. 2504/7523), north and south of the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish. The excavation was directed by B. Ravni. North of the church, only an aqueduct was found. South of the church, an aqueduct and a canal were discovered, as well as walls that were associated with two stages of the church and walls of later periods. The remains were date to the Byzantine and Early Islamic periods.

In 1954, an excavation was conducted on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem (map ref. 21707/63147). The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by E. Anati. A burial cave that was dated to the Fist Temple period was discovered. The cave had also been in use during the Second Temple period. The excavation file contains drawings of pottery vessels that were found in accumulations inside the cave. No finds were registered in the National Treasures.

In 1954, a trial excavation was conducted at the Qiryat Ha-Yovel neighborhood in Jerusalem (map ref. 2168/6301), following the discovery of pottery and a lamp during the digging of pits in a private yard. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by L.Y. Rahmani. Two perpendicular walls were exposed, that were built of hard lime stones and nari (calcrete). Pottery was found at the foot of one of the walls, most of which was dated to the Byzantine period and a few to the Roman period.
