In May and June 1962, an excavation was conducted in Kafr ‘Ana (map ref. unknown), under the direction of J. Kaplan. Six probes were opened. In one probe the remains of buildings were exposed, which included a wall (0.75-0.80 × 5.00 m, height 1.4 m), the floor of a room and pottery, that the excavator dated to the Late Islamic period.

In November 1960, a trial excavation was conducted in Tel Erani, near Qiryat Gat, in an area designated for the textile industry (map ref. unknown). The excavation was directed by E. Yeivin. Two channels were excavated, in which walls and building remains were discovered. The excavator noted that the finds in the excavation were very poor, and consisted of few fragments of pottery and glass, only some of which were diagnostic. In January 1959, a salvage excavation was conducted at Deir ‘Asfin (map ref. 1975/6843). The excavation was directed by J. Naveh with the assistance of Sh. Amit (surveying). The remains of walls built of ashlar stones and two floors that were dated to the Early Islamic period were exposed. Based on the information in the excavation file, coins, glass and pottery dating to the Byzantine period were found.

In 1958 an excavation was conducted at Newe Efrayim (map ref. 1881/6599), under the direction on B. Isserlin. An Arab ruin was exposed, beneath which pottery that was dated to the Persian period and the Iron Age was found. Additional finds consisted of a bronze fibula that was dated to the Iron Age and a bone spindle weight.

In the spring of 1958, an excavation was conducted on the kurkar hill about one kilometer south of the Hadera West railway station (map ref. 1900/7040). The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, began under the direction of F. Berger and was continued under the direction of B. Isserlin. The excavation was conducted following the exposure of tombs during kurkar mining west of the railway. Some of the tombs were destroyed. In January 1958, a salvage excavation was conducted on Giv’at Sokolov (Sokolov Hill) in Benei Beraq, during the renewal of the kurkar mining on the hill (map ref. 18413/66638). The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums and financed by the Benei Beraq Municipality, was directed by V. Sussman and J. Naveh. The western wall of a cave was exposed. The cave ceiling had collapsed. A burnt layer that contained pottery was found on the floor of the cave, which was dated to the Chalcolithic period.

In June 1958, an excavation was conducted at Kibbutz Mishmar HaEmek, following the discovery of a burial cave with loculi during the construction of a road between Mishmar HaEmek and Ein HaShoffet (map ref. 2133/7243). The cave was discovered on the southern slopes of Tel Shosh by the children of Mishmar HaEmek, who removed numerous glass vessels, metal artefacts and lamps that were dated to the Byzantine period. In 1952 and in 1958, excavations were conducted in the Ben Ami neighbourhood of Netanya (map ref. 187/692). The excavations, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, were directed by F. Berger. The remains of prehistoric activity were exposed, including cupmarks, that the excavator could not ascertain whether they were man-made or natural. No finds were catalogued in the National Treasures collections.
