Critical practice on the ancient-style prose is an important part of the literary activity of Tongcheng School in the Qing Dynasty, and due research attention should be paid for understanding their prose theory. Wang You-pu (1681-1760) was one key figure in developing the school's prose theory. As a disciple of Fang Bao, the founder of the school, Wang developed Fang's notion of yifa (meaning-method) by expanding on the relationship between meaning (yi) and method (fa). "Foregrounding" is a key term of the Prague School, and due to its similarity with "defamiliarization," "foregrounding" has caused some misreading, which further leads to the misunderstanding of the relationship between the Prague School and the Russian Formalism. Starting with this term, the Prague School constructed a sophisticated system of structuralist aesthetics and literary theory, which surpassed the Russian Formalism. The concept of "foregrounding" foretells a contextualist aesthetics, which pointed to the contextualist turn of aesthetics in the 20th century.

When writing The History of Japanese Poetry, the Mid-Edo Japanese scholar Emura Hokkai (1707-1782) was deeply influenced by Shi Sou (An Anthology of Poetry) compiled by Chinese Ming-Dynasty scholar Hu Yingling's (1551-1602). In compiling method, Emura's History of Japanese Poetry was written in the way that integrated narration of history through poetry commentaries with biographical history. T. J. Clark carries forward the logic of social history of art which he developed and operated in his study of Courbet and Manet into his analysis of Pollock and Abstract Expressionism. Clark argues that Pollock continued the radical tradition of modern art by resisting similarity and metaphor while Abstract Expressionism continued it with its 'vulgarity' quality. 在20世紀學術史上，《嶺南學報》曾經寫下厚重一筆，迄今依然是學界共同的記憶。此刊於1929年創辦，1952年因嶺南大學解散而閉刊，其間登載了陳寅恪、吳宓、楊樹達、王力、容庚等學界泰斗的許多重要文章，成爲他們叱咤風雲，引領20世紀學術潮流的平臺。

進入21世紀之今日，香港嶺南大學中文系復辦《嶺南學報》，以求弘揚嶺大百年學術精神，延續嶺大文史研究之優勢，進而提升本校及本港的國學研究水準。復辦《嶺南學報》，我們雖然不敢奢望恢復昔日的輝煌，但將竭盡全力保證學術水準，力爭做到無愧於先輩。面對如此艱巨的任務，我們誠惶誠恐，做好了長期艱苦奮鬥的思想準備。

袁枚的詩話寫作在傳統的“辨句法，備古今，紀聖德，録異事，正訛誤”之外，更繼承王士禛《漁洋詩話》風流自賞的品格，更加露骨地自我吹噓和自我神化，同時更出於打秋風或報恩的動機而以之爲交際和牟利的手段，遂開清代中葉以後詩話寫作的市儈風氣。後來出現的許多詩話都顯示出，其取材和撰寫方式不同程度地受到《隨園詩話》的影響。

松崎慊堂與《縮刻唐石經》芻議, Yucai Liu

松崎慊堂是江户後期頗具代表性的考證派儒學者，雖然師承昌平學黌大學頭林述齋，修習作爲官學的朱子之學，並長期擔任藩教授，但在江户後期經學考據蔚成風尚的背景下，學術旨趣發生變化，以至成爲漢唐經注校勘之學的核心人物。松崎慊堂漢籍版本學造詣深厚，致仕後致力於漢籍翻刻校勘，而尤以《縮刻唐石經》貢獻卓著。此舉繼承中國儒經刻石傳統，以恢復唐石舊本、正定文字爲旨歸，在唐石經基礎上，廣採宋元槧及日本古本，校勘文字，辨析異體，其間既引述清儒考證成果，亦兼下己意，力求成爲可資信賴的定本。松崎慊堂《縮刻唐石經》不僅部帙宏巨，校勘精細，而且成書早於民國間張氏皕忍堂《景刊唐開成石經》近百年，雖然校訂經文不乏粗疏淺陋之處，亦未全面參校日本古本，但其草創價值仍不可小覷。

漢武帝時期的禮教 : 國家宗教神學之意識形態 : 董仲舒的禮教神學思想, Hong (Pu Hui) Zhang

漢武時期，董仲舒推進了先秦以來“禮”的各種功能在社會生活中的運用，大肆闡發了其宗教神學觀念，建立了一套以天與人相互感應的神學理論體系，構成了治國安邦的基本國策與國家主流意識形態，從理論上徹底完成了宗教信仰的神權、儒家倫常的父權和政治統治的皇權的三位一體化。董仲舒的儒家思想帶有濃密的神秘主義色彩，把先秦以來的原始鬼神崇拜、太極、陰陽、五行、神仙、方術等非儒家的因素，雜糅進了儒學之中，貫穿於社會的政治統治和人們的精神生活方面，實現了大一統帝國的“禮教”神學化的思想整合。國家宗教神學體系的建立，其目的是完成儒家之“禮教”的宇宙化、社會化和道德化。其“禮”的宗教信仰内容不再單純地注重於社會人事的規定，而是更加突出了“超越宇宙”的神學意味。董仲舒“禮教”思想的可貴之處則在於，它將原爲社會上層集團專有的象徵權力和權威的“禮”，貫徹於民。“禮”的下移和普及，極大地突出了其宗教信仰和社會調節的功用，有效地避免了動輒使用酷吏的行爲；董仲舒還賦予了“禮”具有“溥愛”、“德仁”的獨特内涵和特點。

本文首先對“風俗”二字，作歷史性的考辨，風俗既約定俗成，卻又是可以與時俱進的。就風俗而論，四夷之民性與中原的差異極大，而中原文化在當時具有先進性，故而，風化天下，幾乎成爲儒家的歷史使命。就春秋戰國時代而言，各地民衆或沾染不良風俗，於是學者就有文明拓展或衰退之憂患。其次，本文根據《史記》、《漢書》，考察兩漢移風易俗之實績，這是武帝大一統以來的政治表現；進而論及風俗之盛衰，乃繫於士大夫之表率；而禮樂教化則是移風易俗之核心，堪謂畫龍之點睛矣。

我們爲什麽研究文學史？我們研究歷史的意義在哪裏？這是當前文學史研究的兩大困境。作爲文學屬性的文學史研究，應當具備基本文學要素：一是藝術感受，二是文獻積累，三是理論素養。歷史本身無法真實地被還原，進入歷史的唯一一條途徑是文獻學。而研究文學史的終極目的應該是對義理的研究，也就是一種回歸現實社會的人文關懷。

論南宋詞所展現的“物趣”、“夢境”與“空間邏輯”的文化意義, Shuen-Fu Lin

對北、南宋詞的評價，浙西兩學者的撰著，清早期的朱彝尊《詞綜》和晚清民國時期的王國維《人間詞話》，二者看法不同。後者揚北宋而抑南宋，直指詞至南宋，已不足觀；而前者卻不一筆抹煞南宋，對其成就、價值亦給予充分的估量。當代詞學，似乎以王氏《人間詞話》影響更巨，本文則顛覆王氏之説，較認同朱氏的觀點。意在宋文化發展面向上來體察北、南宋之際詞的發展嬗變，北宋蘇軾、周邦彦已有出色的詠物詞，而由於種種文化因緣，南宋詞人承襲前人，在詞中發明“物趣”。考索姜夔、史達祖與“物趣”之淵源，進而深入分析當時代表詞人以及宋遺民詞人的詞結構的改變，内含“空間邏輯”之新意，以及詞作特點，他們與北宋詞的直接抒情，顯然已有較大的差異。

明季女英雄是一個具彈性的象徵符號，代表異彩紛呈的議論、抒情和想像空間。歷史與文學如何交錯？滄桑巨變的經歷與記憶，為何藉女英雄想像為媒介？不同的歷史環境如何塑造歷史記憶？明季女英雄的壓抑與重構，如何應運而生？清末民初與抗戰期間述説明末女英雄，激勵人心，救亡圖存的目標極明顯。相對而言，明末清初的同題書寫複雜而多元。其中有記實的層面，即不願獨立特行的奇女子湮没無聞，亦有馳騁想像，純屬虚構的故事。然而無論虚實，均呈現晚明以來對此話題之特殊興趣。廣義而言，這主題也許可溯源於“好奇”的文學傳統，其中包涵追求解脱、投射理想、抒發憤懣，種種創作動機。間或緊扣時代，成為歷史判斷的關鍵，歷史記憶的依附。同時，世變與女詩人的英雄想像息息相關。明清之際女性文學主流之一是憂國傷時的詩詞。從戎靖亂的記憶或幻想，間或引發對性別定位的質疑，間或醖釀詩心之覺醒。書寫１９ 世紀離亂的女詩人，乃至晚清秋瑾，均屬於此一隱約的系譜。

"衣"之華夏美學, Xiaoming Hu

以意象傳詩思，化美學爲美典，正是華夏美學之特色。“衣”是極富於中國思想的美典。其一以貫之的核心思想，即“二柄並用”。“衣”兼物質文明與精神文明，衣冠文明是華夏文明心物融合發展之典型。黄帝垂衣裳而治天下，既是禮，又是樂。“衣”兼政治文明之秩序莊嚴、精英士人之風流文采，是禮樂治國、文人主持文明社會的經典意象；而歷代衣裳文明之雜用胡俗而不失本來民族地位，既是吾民族凝聚人心、守護尊嚴之身份認同，亦是吾民族以开关延敌而濯磨自强之精神特徵。而藝術與文學中極爲豐富的衣意象與衣感性，乃見出吾民族以藝事通天文、以藝事通情文之美感特色，從中可認知華夏文明區别於西方文藝之精神微至處。衣之華夏美學，十字打開，二柄相連，既是一套政治社會歷史之大美學，亦是人心微處的小美學。一衣一世界，可以退藏於密，可以放諸四海。
