This study focuses on the workings of humor in 16th-and 17th-century England, particularly in its proximity and deployment around death. Through Early Modern theoretical discussions of humor as well as utterances, historical tracts, poetry, and drama of the time, humor’s role in interrupting or breaking up particular modes of interpretation can be seen. Surveying Castiglione and Puttenham, records of martyred Catholics and Protestants, the poetry of Spenser and Donne, and the dramatic works of Shakespeare, I argue that humor operates as a sort of short-circuiting of a given audience expectation that allows for a potential divergence from previous assertions or …

how sociocultural factors are associated with domestic violence. Using the meta-synthesis

between 1995-2016 that included in-depth interviews with Asian Indian immigrant women who

Scholarship has indicated that Catholic, secondary school religion teachers in the United States are often not adequately prepared pedagogically and theologically (Aldana, 2015; Ramey, 2014; Schroeder, 2013; Cook and Hudson, 2006; Cook, 2001, 2000; Lund 1997). Intentional food practices are defined as interactions with food chosen for particular purposes, while journeys of consciousness are cumulative successions of events that people associate with healing, restoration, and decolonization personally and collectively. Beginning in early 2014, the EU introduced and extended a range of smart sanctions against Russia in protest at Russian involvement in destabilizing Ukraine and violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity. By utilizing theoretical elements of constructivism with process tracing method, this thesis examines the influence of the EU's collective identity on smart sanctions imposed on Russia. The analysis finds that the EU's "collective identity" stipulated the "objective interests" and "subjective interests" to its actors and influenced the "actions" of smart sanctions by extending extra restrictive measures for Russian financial institutions to increase the cost of smart sanctions imposed on Russia. …

This study aimed to investigate the effects of memory color on color perception of natural objects under different illuminations. A series of experiments were carried out and launched on the Internet through a website (https://memorycolor.net). Seventy-eight observers participated in the experiments. In Experiment 1, observers were asked to provide a typical color of five natural objects (blueberry, broccoli, salmon, sunflower and tomato) based on their memory.
