Finding aid and typescripts (Click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Small Collection 2345. Letters, 10 and 26 January 1862, written by William J. Green, Paducah, Kentucky, to his brothers John Henry and Samuel Ford Green, presumably in Illinois, describing military life and maneuvers in western Kentucky. Green was serving in Company B, 2nd Regiment Illinois Cavalry. He describes his tent with a homemade chimney in one letter and makes some disparaging comments about the “Secesh” in Murrary, Kentucky.

Typescripted World War II diary of Donald James Tolle, kept 1942-1945 while serving in England, Italy and North Africa with the Army Air Corps, 47th Bombardment Group (Light). Includes diary annotations made in 1988, materials from a 1979 reunion of the Bombardment Group, biographical data on Tolle, his obituary, and a colleague's remarks at his memorial service.

Ratermann was born in El Paso in 1932 and was born at a Masonic Hospital. She is the youngest one in her family and her older sister, Sister Helen Julius Ratermann, who was the oldest and was born in 1914, was also a sister. The location of the interview is 4108 Waco. Her mother’s family went to live in Socorro, New Mexico and when the mines began to get shaky, they moved to El Paso. Her father was Julius Augustus Ratermann and came to El Paso because doctors believed he had Tuberculosis. Her mother was born in Socorro, New Mexico …

From its inception the early Christian Church sought to suppress books believed to contain heretical or erroneous teachings. With the development of the printing press during the latter half of the fifteenth century, Christian authorities in Europe became increasingly aware of the need to control the mass production of unfamiliar and potentially unacceptable texts. Initially, censorship of the press was enforced locally. However, with the spread of the Protestant Reformation, the Catholic Church required a more centralized and organized approach. Thus, the Council of Trent (1545–1563) ratified the Index librorum prohibitorum(“Index of Prohibited Books”), which listed individual banned titles …

Ensemble Learning With Imbalanced Data, Larry Shoemaker

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

We describe an ensemble approach to learning salient spatial regions from arbitrarily

partitioned simulation data. Ensemble approaches for anomaly detection

are also explored. The partitioning comes from the distributed processing requirements

of large-scale simulations. The volume of the data is such that classifiers

can train only on data local to a given partition. Since the data partition reflects

the needs of the simulation, the class statistics can vary from partition to partition.

Some classes will likely be missing from some or even most partitions. We combine

a fast ensemble learning algorithm with scaled probabilistic majority voting in

order to learn …
