This typed document, circa 1983, outlines the activities of Dennis Banks in California from 1976-1982, prior to his move to the Onondaga Reservation in New York. It lists events that Dennis Banks helped organize, such as the first Sun Dance held in California, the "Longest Walk" protest march, the first American Indian International Arts Exposition and the Airlift of food and other supplies to Indians in Arizona and South Dakota. Many of the activities listed are related to Banks' involvement in Deganawidah-Quetzalcoatl University.

In the brief explanatory preface of "The Zodiac" Dickey says: "Its twelve sections are the story of a drunken and perhaps dying Dutch poet who returns to his home in Amsterdam after years of travel and tries desperately to relate himself, by means of stars, to the universe." The question immediately arises as to how a Dutch poet, and particularly one living in the Old World city of Amsterdam, relates to an American myth. France's most prominent philosopher of the second half of the seventeenth century is reputed to be no friend of rhetoric. Bernard Tocanne declares, "C'est chez Malebranche que se mettent en place tous les arguments mis en oeuvre par les adversaires de la rhétorique à la fin du siècle," and Peter France calls him "a philosopher who had no love for rhetoric."
