Perceived Parent-Child Interaction And Boys Self-Esteem In Two Cultural Contexts, Viktor Gecas, Darwin L. Thomas, Andrew Weigert
Faculty Publications
The problem under consideration in the present paper deals with the relationship between parent-child interaction patterns and the child's self esteem. The relationship between these variables will be examined in the context of samples drawn from two societies: Saint Paul, Minnesota and San Juan, Puerto Rico.1 It is hoped that a cross-cultural investigation of the effects of parent-child interaction on the child's self esteem will enable us to make a more precise statement about the nature of this relationship.2

1. In Latter-day Saint Church development, form has always followed function.
2. Function has influenced form to a great extent. Priesthood, meeting, or other program needs are a prime factor in changing the form and design of Church buildings.
3. Form has influenced function only insofar as the physical …

The Dream Mine: A Study In Mormon Folklore, Joe Stanley Graham

In September of 1894, John Hyrum Koyle, Jr., said that he was shown in a dream or vision a large, rich deposit of gold and an underground storehouse of artifacts hidden by people of Ancient America. This dream was the beginning of a mining venture which has never produced anything of value, has been opposed vigorously by both officials of the LDS Church and the State, yet has claimed supporters numbered in the thousands.
The mine has profoundly affected (and continues to affect) the lives of many families who have come into the sphere of its influence. The lore of …
