This year, however, we shall take a different course; our approach to a study of some of the menacing evils will be indirect. The charge has been prominently made that liberalism has invaded the Missouri Synod. His letters to the Ephesians and Colossians contain explicit rules for the conduct of slaves and masters. Living in a society in which it is estimated that more than half of the population belonged to the slave class, it is little wonder that Paul often uses this word and its antonym, free man.

The Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions (BCIM) was created in 1874 as the Office of the Commissioner for Catholic Indian Missions to protect, promote, and administer the Native American mission interests of the Catholic Church in the United States. Records in this group are organized by record group and then state or territory and year. Collection organization varies very little throughout the collection, however, prior to 1921, general correspondence was organized by location. Starting with Director Hughes, general correspondence was placed as its own subgroup within the collection and is organized alphabetically. Please go to Ask An Archivist if you …

Youth Work In A Rural Church, Verna Gertrude Palmer
Youth Work In A Rural Church, Verna Gertrude Palmer
Master's Theses
Youth work has been an important part of the activity of churches. Most of the studies about it and most of the programs for young people, however, seem to concern town and city churches more than rural churches.
It is my purpose in this paper to present a study of the work that is being done with and for young people in rural churches in Virginia. First a survey will be made of conditions which contribute to the problems of youth work in rural churches in general. Then the youth activities and problems of churches in Virginia will be considered. …

Aspects Of The Oecumenical Dilemna, William G. Baker
Aspects Of The Oecumenical Dilemna, William G. Baker
Graduate Thesis Collection
Views of the oecumenical movement range from an enthusiastic, if often shallow optimism, to a cautious, and sometimes bitter, suspicion. The thesis which I venture to offer is that only a radical emproach to oecumenicity can enable us to understand what is happening in this moment of Church history. Such a radical approach demands that we seek to understand the nature of human existence, the nature of the Church, and the nature of unitive activity within the Church.
