Blockprint was a student newspaper published throughout the 1950s-60s. The April 2, 1968 issue features articles on the "March of Humanity" mural in Mexico City, a faculty statement supporting students who protest the Vietnam war, the Peace Corps and draft deferments, a new music group "The Rotary Connection," a photography exhibit sponsored by the Camera Club of Providence College, a "Yip-In" demonstration by Alan Ginsberg at Grand Central Station gone awry, a Dada and surrealism exhibit at MoMA, and the Student-Faculty committee, along with other opinion pieces, editorials, and creative writing.

Giovanni Gabrieli’S Canzon In Echo Duodecimi Toni, Donna Kay Van Riper

This thesis is a study of the Canzon in Echo Duodecimi Toni (number twelve) by Giovanni Gabrieli, an early and lonely example of the use of the organ with instruments. While it is true that contemporaries of Gabrieli composed for organ and instruments, the organ remained strictly in its role as a continuo instrument. Gabrieli, however, was apparently thinking in terms of the organ as a solo instrument, an instrument which could serve as an adequate echo to the brass.

Recordings of the work are disappointing or non-existent. A string transcription of number eleven on an Angel label is romanticized, …
