This philosophy should permit enough flexibility to allow for individual differences and yet be rigid enough to encompass general education needs and goals. It shall be the purpose of this study to encourage the shared philosophy and communication relationship between school music educators and their administrators.

A Study Of The Specifications And Playing Qualities Of The Bb Soprano Clarinet Mouthpiece, Ardella Cullen Hein Jan 1970

A Study Of The Specifications And Playing Qualities Of The Bb Soprano Clarinet Mouthpiece, Ardella Cullen Hein

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

My visual thesis, titled "Sojourn," is made up of 12 paintings, plus four preparatory drawings and color studies. Collectively, these works are an ongoing narrative commentary on vagaries of the human condition as I have observed them during the past 35 or so years of my adult life. While each of the paintings can be viewed separately, they were intended from the start to be shown together, as I believe the similarities in their subject matter and overall composition have a synergistic effect when viewed as a group. All of the paintings were done in acrylic paints on stretched canvas. …

Excursion: An Original Composition For Flute, Bb Clarinet, Oboe, Tenor Trombone, And Bass Trombone, Ward Maxwell Jamison

Dissertations and Theses @ UNI

The composition is based on a twelve-tone row, and its derivative forms of retrograde, inversion, and retrograde inversion. These sequences of tones serve as a unifying factor through out the composition. The rhythmic texture has been so structured as to avoid metric patterns implying tonality. This has been achieved through the use of cross rhythms and avoidance of stress at regular time intervals. The composition makes use of motivic variation melodically, texturally, and arithmetically. Much use is made of counterpoint combined with linear and vertical orders, and purely vertical statements. There are two sections of approximately equal length. The first …

Graded lists of music materials were compiled as a guide for instruction. Desirable equipment and floor …
