Studies nationwide suggest that the use of outdoor classrooms in education benefits both students and teachers. In response, the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation (OOR) established a grant to help fund the implementation of outdoor classrooms across the state of Utah. Interested schools and non-profit organizations may apply for this grant to fund outdoor classroom projects that will help transform their properties into outdoor learning environments.

Because of climate change, population expansion, and other factors, both wildfire and drought are becoming pressing concerns in Utah. Home landscaping can reduce risk of damage from wildfire (fire-protective landscaping) and contribute to lower water use (low-water landscaping). Arkansas’s Hot Springs National Park was the first natural reservation in the United States and is the oldest park in the National Park System. In Hot Springs, 47 springs release almost a million gallons of potable 143° water every day - the problem is, almost all of this water is hidden from sight, funneled directly into an 1884-constructed tunnel underground, where no person (or other life) can experience it.

The landscape holds onto the nearly imperceivable cemeteries of the formerly enslaved population that have been erased through time, development, and censure of historical narratives in Louisiana. Immediate action is necessary to retie censured chronicles of enslavement to the landscape, educating the public on deep-rooted systemic racism in the contemporary environment. This thesis aims to provide reparations to the Black and descendant communities of southern Louisiana. This work acknowledges the remaining cemetery fragments, reframing and knitting them together as a network of spaces that uphold a more holistic memory of the past.

My thesis explores how landscape design can improve its methods of reclaiming lost cultural stories in the urban landscape, using the example of the Filipino American neighborhood known as Little Manila in Stockton, California. Through interpreting both stories and narratives that surround the neighborhood, I propose a basis for landscape design inspiration that focuses on oral history and lived experience. Coastal Louisiana is bountiful in cultural and ecological diversity. Spotted with thriving estuaries, meandering bayous and swamps, and rippling grasses of coastal marshes, these wetland ecosystems sequester carbon, purify floodwaters, and buffer against storm surge. Historically, southern wetland landscapes have offered refuge to people of many folk and ethnic traditions escaping violence and oppression. Until the mid-twentieth century, the people living in present-day Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes enjoyed relative isolation from the rest of America, constructing cultural practices that emphasized attachment to wetland plants, animals, and ecosystem dynamics.

Their study inspired the addition of counterpart cases from Nuevo México, a former Mexican province directly north of the Juarez-El Paso border. ปัจจุบันโครงการรถไฟความเร็วสูงไทย-จีน สายตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ มีการดำเนินโครงการ 2 ช่วง คือ ช่วงที่1 กรุงเทพมหานครถึงนครราชสีมา และช่วงที่ 2 คือ นครราชสีมาถึงหนองคาย โดยเส้นทางช่วงที่1 ตัดผ่านพื้นที่โบราณสถานที่ขึ้นทะเบียนโดยกรมศิลปากรในจังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา งานวิจัยมีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะศึกษาผลกระทบทางสายตาของทางรถไฟและสถานีรถไฟที่มีต่อโบราณสถานโดยกำหนดพื้นที่ศึกษาจากรางรถไฟออกไปข้างละ 1 กิโลเมตร โดยเริ่มจากจุดศูนย์กลางของสถานีลงมา 3 กิโลเมตร และขึ้นไป 3 กิโลเมตร รวมระยะทางทั้งสิ้น 6 กิโลเมตร ในพื้นที่ศึกษาดังกล่าวมีพื้นที่มีโบราณสถานทั้งหมด 40 แห่ง แต่จะเลือกศึกษา 24 แห่งที่ยังเหลือหลักฐานทางโบราณคดีและยังไม่มีการศึกษามาก่อน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า จากโบราณสถานที่ศึกษา 24 แห่ง มีจำนวน 13 แห่งที่สถานีและรางรถไฟส่งผลกระทบต่อมุมมองของโบราณสถาน โดยในส่วนของการวิเคราะห์จะประเมินระดับผลกระทบ และลำดับความสำคัญของคุณค่าโบราณสถาน รวมทั้งเสนอแนวทางการออกแบบพืชพรรณโดยรอบพื้นที่

The American Cemetery Movement tells the story of American cemeteries in roughly four chapters, demarcated by the emergence of new cemetery forms: the rural cemetery, the memorial park, and so on. This paper identifies the salient features associated with each epoch of cemetery development and locates them within the city-cemetery of Colma, California — America’s only official necropolis — to demonstrate how Colma extends America’s cemetery tradition in familiar ways. The City of Philadelphia has addressed the need to utilize vacant lots in the city’s comprehensive planning document, Philadelphia2035 (PCPC, 2010). The document encourages designers to use sustainable practices to reincorporate these abandoned lots back into the fabric of the city. Through partnerships with local organizations in Philadelphia, guidelines and suggestions were created to guide Philadelphians while they revive abandoned lot spaces. In the neighborhood of Nicetown-Tioga, Philadelphia, there is a large amount of vacant lots leaving the area blighted and without resilience.
