The Role Of Discrete Emotions In Job Satisfaction: A Meta-Analysis, Courtney E. Williams, Jane Shumski Thomas, Andrew A. Bennett, George C. Banks, Allison Toth, Alexandra M. Dunn, Andrew Mcbride, Janaki Gooti Jan 2024

The Role Of Discrete Emotions In Job Satisfaction: A Meta-Analysis, Courtney E. Williams, Jane Shumski Thomas, Andrew A. Bennett, George C. Banks, Allison Toth, Alexandra M. Dunn, Andrew Mcbride, Janaki Gooti

Management Faculty Publications

[Summary] The relationship between emotions and job satisfaction is widely acknowledged via affective events theory (AET). Despite its widespread use, AET was not designed to address why specific emotions might differentially relate to job satisfaction. We utilize appraisal theory of emotion to refine AET and provide this nuanced theorizing. We meta‐analytically test our ideas with 235 samples across 99 883 individuals and 22 600 intra‐individual episodes. We test two approaches—specific emotion experiences (16 discrete emotions) versus general emotion experiences (positive or negative emotions)—and present empirical evidence of their similarities and differences with job satisfaction. Our findings suggest that specific emotions …

Guideline For Sbhc Provider Education To Start The Hpv Vaccine At Nine Years Old, Jasmine K. Serrano

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Scholarly Projects - Archive

It is estimated that 80% of people worldwide, regardless of gender, will contract human papillomavirus (HPV) at some point in their lives. The HPV vaccine series prevents high-risk strains that are known to cause cancer and genital warts (Osaghae et al., 2022). School-based health clinics (SBHC) can increase access to and completion of the HPV vaccine series, which remains low throughout the United States (Javaid et al., 2017; Rane et al., 2021; Shah et al., 2020). This guideline was created to increase SBH provider education to start the HPV vaccine at nine years old. The project lead conducted a systematic …

Transformational Leadership For A Remote Work Environment – Post Covid-19 Pandemic Era, Liza Craig Jan 2024

Transformational Leadership For A Remote Work Environment – Post Covid-19 Pandemic Era, Liza Craig

West Chester University Doctoral Projects

COVID-19 is caused by the novel SARS-COV-2 virus in 2020, took many lives, impacted, effected, and changed life for everyone around the world in one way or another. The rapid spread of this virus forced organizations around the world to make rather spontaneous decisions to abruptly pivot to an alternative way of working, to minimize exposure risk which transformed the traditional professional work environment to a remote option for many after the pandemic.

This qualitative research study used surveys and semi-structured follow-up interviews to explore benefits and challenges associated with post-pandemic remote work, leadership skills and behavior necessary to support …

The Paradox Of Resource Access: Influence On Location Decision Comprehensiveness And New Venture Performance, Nastaran Simarasl, Pooya Tabesh, Younggeun Lee Jan 2024

The Paradox Of Resource Access: Influence On Location Decision Comprehensiveness And New Venture Performance, Nastaran Simarasl, Pooya Tabesh, Younggeun Lee

New England Journal of Entrepreneurship

Purpose–This research aims to theorize how a critical factor, resource access, can paradoxically impact the comprehensiveness of venture location decision processes and the relationship between decision comprehensiveness and new venture performance. To do so, the authors focus on nascent entrepreneurs’ venture location decision processes and introduce resource access as a double-edged sword.

Design/methodology/approach– In this conceptual article, the authors draw from the strategic decisionmaking and resource mobilization literature to theorize about the new venture location decision-making process and its performance implications.

Findings– By uncovering the paradox of resource access, the authors propose that high levels of resource access create a …

Enhancing Organizational Capacity In Teachers Training Colleges: Leadership Implications, Erick Katana Karisa Jan 2024

Enhancing Organizational Capacity In Teachers Training Colleges: Leadership Implications, Erick Katana Karisa

Master of Education

This study investigates how Teachers Training Colleges (TTCs) in Kenya employ Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) to enhance leadership capabilities and narrow the divide between existing situations and envisioned goals. Using a mixed-methods approach through interviews, focus groups, and surveys, the study assesses the practical implementation of OCA and its implications for TTC leaders, faculty, and staff.

Previous studies explore OCA frameworks, leadership styles, and potential outcomes, but often depict broad pictures without illuminating practical implementation strategies. The analysis reveals that while TTC leaders primarily focus on leadership structures, human resources, curriculum, and community engagement, neglecting other crucial dimensions of organizational …

Time And Change: A Meta-Analysis Of Temporal Decisions In Longitudinal Studies, Helen Hailin Zhao, Abbie J. Shipp, Kameron Carter, Erik Gonzalez-Mulé, Erica Xu Jan 2024

Time And Change: A Meta-Analysis Of Temporal Decisions In Longitudinal Studies, Helen Hailin Zhao, Abbie J. Shipp, Kameron Carter, Erik Gonzalez-Mulé, Erica Xu

Management Faculty Publications

Longitudinal research has grown in popularity in the field of management and organizations. However, the literature has neglected to consider the important ways in which researchers' temporal decisions can influence observed change in longitudinal studies. Researchers must make a set of temporal decisions to capture change, such as the temporal precision of the hypothesized form of change, the selection of a sample that is expected to exhibit the change, the choice of variables to be measured repeatedly, the frequency of measurements, and the time interval between measurements. However, these decisions typically are based on "educated guesses," which makes their effects …

Universities As Innovation Hubs For Television Stations In Uganda., Imokola John Baptist Jan 2024

Universities As Innovation Hubs For Television Stations In Uganda., Imokola John Baptist

Executive Masters in Media Leadership and Innovation

Television in Uganda continues to struggle to deal with changes in the industry, which has ultimately led to the closure or restructuring of many organizations. Many of those that remain are also struggling to survive in the market. For them to remain successful and viable, they need to constantly innovate to deal with these changes, as well as satisfy the needs of their audience. Innovation, however, is expensive in terms of time, finances and human resources. This study set out to examine the possibilities of using journalism schools in universities as innovation hubs for the television industry. The study was …

Feasibility Of Influencing Clinician Perceived Knowledge And Competence Of Human Trafficking Via A Continuing Education Workshop, Rachel Wakefield

College of Graduate Studies: Theses & Dissertations

Previous research has examined the complex mental and social health deficits of those who were trafficked that clinicians have to treat therapeutically (Litam, 2017; Pascual-Leone et al., 2017). Other research has explored how continuing education workshops often change the knowledge, competence, and attitudes of attendees to use more effective and evidenced techniques and skills (Neimeyer et al., 2009; Raghavan et al., 2008). However, there is a lack of understanding about how a complex topic, specifically treatment considerations of those who were trafficked, changes the knowledge and competence of continuing education workshop attendees. The purpose of the current study is to …

Trans And Gender Diverse Inclusion In Academic Library Hiring, Keahi Adolpho, Stephen G. Krueger, Luke Sutherland, Adrian Williams Jan 2024

Trans And Gender Diverse Inclusion In Academic Library Hiring, Keahi Adolpho, Stephen G. Krueger, Luke Sutherland, Adrian Williams

Library Faculty and Staff Publications

We do not know how many trans and gender diverse people work in libraries in the United States. Like the US Census, the American Library Association’s demographic survey of its members (which is by no means a complete or accurate representation of the profession) asks if respondents are male or female (Rosa & Henke, 2017). In addition to erasing anybody who is not one of these two things, this question does not provide information on whether respondents are trans or gender diverse. And yet, we are here: all four of the authors of this chapter are trans people who work …

The Role Of Administration In Creating Equitable Educational Practices, Erin A. Burch

All Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Effective leadership practices in education have been extensively researched, yet inequitable outcomes for marginalized groups remain despite evidence-based strategies and accountability measures. How can educational leaders and administrators support an equitable education for all students? Effective leadership practices in education require a multifaceted approach that includes collaboration, culturally responsive practices, developmental supervision, and a focus on equity. Continuous professional development, supportive supervisory practices, and a commitment to building a collaborative school culture are essential for addressing systemic inequities and improving outcomes for all students.

Eskape: Navigating The Global Battlefield For Antimicrobial Resistance And Defense In Hospitals, Kamna Ravi, Baljit Singh

Articles

The current healthcare environment is at risk due to the facilitated transmission and empowerment of the ESKAPE pathogens, comprising of Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter species. These pathogens have posed significant challenges to global public health and the threat has only amplified over time. These multidrug-resistant bacteria have become adept at escaping the effects of conventional antibiotics utilized, leading to severe healthcare-associated infections and compromising immunocompromised patient outcomes to a greater extent. The impact of ESKAPE pathogens is evident in the rapidly rising rates of treatment failures, increased mortality, and elevated healthcare costs. …

A Systematic Comprehensive Pressure Injury (Pi) Preventive Plan To Guide Care, Bertha Calloway Jan 2024

A Systematic Comprehensive Pressure Injury (Pi) Preventive Plan To Guide Care, Bertha Calloway

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Patients living in long-term care facilities are highly susceptible to developing pressure injuries. Decubitus and pressure ulcers, commonly identified as pressure injuries, are potentially the most highly preventable injuries in the healthcare setting. These adverse events remain a critical problem. Pressure injuries in the United States continue to increase due to a growing aging population and a lack of efficient, theory-based preventive plans. Examining this healthcare concern as a crisis versus an inevitable run-off of long-term care gives practitioners a necessary perspective to reverse and eliminate pressure injury prevalence. Pressure injuries frequently occur among older adults with compromised health and …

Implementing A Protocol To Increase The Uptake Of The Hpv Vaccine, Erica K. Bartee Jan 2024

Implementing A Protocol To Increase The Uptake Of The Hpv Vaccine, Erica K. Bartee

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

In the United States, human papillomavirus is the most persistently occurring sexually acquired infection. Nearly all human papillomavirus-associated cancers are the result of human papillomavirus infection. The human papillomavirus vaccine is a safe and effective public health intervention to prevent human papillomavirus-associated cancers and reduce morbidities and deaths. Human papillomavirus vaccine uptake falls below the benchmark, which is to attain 80% vaccination in adolescents. At an urban pediatrics clinic, where the project was implemented, only 25% of 11-12-year-olds were vaccinated between June 1, 2023, through August 24, 2023, lower than average. Alabama’s vaccination uptake incidence is 59.2%, compared to the …

Faculty Articles

For an undertaking an analysis of the implication of stress in the workplace, this article requires a four-part approach. Specifically, Part II explores how workplace stress, commonly known as work-induced stress; coupled with trauma, adaptive responses, and latent psychological conditions trigger workaholic syndrome thereby creating a dysfunctional psychological and physical impairment to the body. This section also outlines how stress activates components in the brain to create what psychologists are now referring to as an injury to the brain. Part III of this article describes the evolution of the eggshell doctrine from inception to the most recent conception, which is …
