Corporate Governance & International Law, Kishanthi Parella Jan 2024

Corporate Governance & International Law, Kishanthi Parella

Scholarly Articles

Stakeholder activism by nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), consumers, employees, and others can incentivize corporate managers to comply with international law on climate change, armed conflict, human rights, and access to medicine, among other issues. As such, stakeholder enforcement of international law has two distinct audiences: the corporation that is persuaded to change and fellow stakeholders who are persuaded to act. But familiar difficulties with collective action impede the success of stakeholder enforcement of international law. These challenges can compromise the ability of shareholders to monitor corporations; these same problems similarly jeopardize the ability of stakeholders to monitor corporate compliance with international …

Community library leaders and governing board members are faced with challenges such as decreased funding, community division regarding library services, and soaring costs for library materials and services, as they develop and adopt policies and practices to navigate this ever-changing environment.

The purpose of this qualitative study was to collect data from the public …

The study's goal was to learn from the lived experiences of those who went through a successful presidential transition and provide a richer view of presidential transitions to all involved. The findings show the key characteristics for a successful president or chief leader transition include (a) having a …

Research on legal diffusion typically focuses on laws’ initial adoption and ignores their later evolution. We develop a typology of three subsequent diffusion patterns: convergence, when countries revise laws to move closer to leading regulators; customization, when countries revise laws to move away from leading regulators; and stagnation, when countries cease legislating, leaving initially adopted laws in place. We then propose a general theory suggesting that economic size and geographic distance from leading regulators predict which of the three patterns countries follow. We explore this theory with case studies on the dynamic diffusion of antitrust laws in Russia, Colombia, and …

To fill the research gap, this study explores instructional coaches’ perceptions of their professional learning related to curriculum development and leadership. The research questions included (1) How do ICs perceive professional learning opportunities for curriculum leadership? and (2) How do instructional coaches describe the development of their curriculum coaching knowledge and practices? Upon applying the conceptual framework, which included the Saylor et al. (1981) curriculum development model …

Uncontrolled Asthma In Pediatrics, Lydia M. Chapa-Wilson

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Scholarly Projects - Archive

Asthma tends to be underdiagnosed and undertreated. Several studies concluded that asthma was poorly managed among pediatric care providers. To address the patient/problem, intervention, comparison, outcome, and setting (PICOTS) question: Among the pediatric providers at a primary care clinic in an urban Texas city, what was the effect of administering asthma control tests (ACT/C-ACT) on modifying the care plan of pediatric patients diagnosed with uncontrolled asthma? The purpose of this evidence-based practice (EBP) project was to evaluate the association between the test scores and the provider’s decision whether to change the patient’s care plan, and ultimately to bring the clinic …

Promoting Continuous Learning And Organizational Improvement Through Role Based Evaluation Capacity Building, Haley Elizabeth Umans Jan 2024

Promoting Continuous Learning And Organizational Improvement Through Role Based Evaluation Capacity Building, Haley Elizabeth Umans

CGU Theses & Dissertations

Nonprofit organizations, like expanded learning programs, are hungry to engage in evaluation to improve their services to make the greatest impact. To bring this dream to life, individuals in the organization must develop the skills necessary to engage in evaluation and use findings as part of evaluation capacity building (ECB) efforts. The ECB literature has provided several models and tools to support organizations’ quest to engage in evaluation and use finding sustainably; however, these strategies are often hindered when organizations have limited time, resources, and capacity. These barriers have been well documented in expanded learning programs (Block, 2021; Bradshaw, 2015; …

Twenty First Century Principal Leadership, Shannon R. Goodacre Jan 2024

Twenty First Century Principal Leadership, Shannon R. Goodacre

Dissertations

With the shifts and newly evolving complexities of the 21st century, the significance of what is needed from a successful school principal has reached a critical point. Today, one of the most vital roles of an effective principal is to, "Create a climate hospitable to education so that safety, a cooperative spirit, and other foundations of fruitful interactions prevail" (Foundation, 2013, p. 6). Therefore, the present study, using a constructivist research approach to conduct a phenomenological study, strove to understand a phenomenon, in this case, the phenomenon of leadership as it is practiced by high school principals (Adom, 2016). This …

A Stress Perspective Of Leader-Follower Relationship Ambivalence, Ghada Baz Jan 2024

A Stress Perspective Of Leader-Follower Relationship Ambivalence, Ghada Baz

Graduate Thesis and Dissertation 2023-2024

Ambivalence is the experience of both positive and negative evaluations regarding an object such as a person or an event. Although interest in leadership ambivalence has been growing among researchers, there is still little understanding of what distinguishes it from poor leadership. The goal of this dissertation was to contribute to the leadership ambivalence literature by examining ambivalence in the leader-member exchange (LMX) relationship through the lens of occupational stress. Specifically, I used the job demands-resources model as a theoretical foundation and presented leadership ambivalence as a unique job demand that is associated with emotional exhaustion as a symptom of …

Corporate Restructuring Spin-Off In A Technical Project-Based Organization, Stephen J. Davis Jan 2024

Corporate Restructuring Spin-Off In A Technical Project-Based Organization, Stephen J. Davis

Graduate Thesis and Dissertation post-2024

A technical project-based organization (TPBO) is a type of organizational setup that uses project management as the main economic driver. An TPBO tends to be adept at accepting change due to its inherent trait of constant change within the organization as resources move from project-to-project accepting scope changes along the way. Regardless of its ability to accept more change, every organization goes through a lifecycle. At some point, the organization must implement a change in the life cycle to avoid failure. A corporate restructuring spin-off is one way an organization can avoid organizational failure. Although the tool is used in …

Developing A Multi-Level Model Of Integrated-Organizational Resilience, Reza Bahari Jan 2024

Developing A Multi-Level Model Of Integrated-Organizational Resilience, Reza Bahari

Graduate Thesis and Dissertation 2023-2024

Most contemporary organizations work in unsteady environments and are impacted by various types of disruptions that have profound impacts on performance such as natural disasters, globalization, and financial recessions. Due to this, the concept of integrated organizational resilience (IOR) has become an important issue for both academic researchers and practitioners in recent years. A review of the literature shows that much of the research has focused on identifying and measuring the factors that affect OR in an effort to improve organizations' capacity for resilience. While significant research has been conducted in this area, much of the evidence focuses on a …
