The application of microphotographic methods for the processing and storage of information has grown steadily during the last two decades. The microphotographic system, through which the information must pass at a minimum is as follows: Step 1: Photographing of the original document at a large reduction onto a silver halide microfilm. Step 2: Duplicating through contact printing onto a non-silver photographic material. Step 3: Second generation duplication onto a nonsilver photographic material (This image may be used on a microfilm reader). Optimization Of A Particular Aerial Photographic System By Simultaneous Intensification, Richard D. Young

Under the conditions of a low-altitude, rapid access photographic system, a method of simultaneously intensifying image exposures is compared to low intensity latensification. The simultaneous intensification resulted in a speed increase of 2.4 times, while latensification produced a speed increase of 1.7 times. Latensification was more effective in most of the other responses that were analyzed: reduction of Contrast Index was less by 0.1; speed at the minimum gradient point defined by the untreated strips was increased by latensification by 1.29 times compared to 1.23 times by simultaneous intensification. The approximate physical model for solute-solvent inter?actions presented by J, M, Prausnitz and R, Anderson¹ is briefly discussed, Applicability of Weimer, Prausnitz³ and Helpinstill, Van Winkle⁷ models is investigated using experimental values of activity coefficients for C₅ hydrocarbons in 13 solvents including one nonpolar and 12 polar solvents. Independent correlations, based on our experimental values at 45°C for normal and isopentane have been developed. This study shows how rubbery acrylic polymer adhesives can be used to adhere rubber substrates to each other. Two substrate rubber compounds were used. A styrene-butadiene copolymer and a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer. The adhesives were homopolymers based on polybutyl acrylate and poly2-ethyl hexyl acrylate.

Two reference standards were used. The first was commercial rubber based, solvent cements. The second was commercial acrylic solution polymers. All experimental work was compared to these standards. An attempt was made to optimize the adhesive components, as well as the adhesive application procedures and curing conditions.

An investigation of semiconductor surface-related phenomena has been undertaken to correlate 1/F noise with drain breakdown in P-channel enhancement MOSFET's. Increases in the intensity of drain current fluctuations at 10Hz and at 1KHz, particularly at the higher frequency, was observed following accelerated life-testing for threshold voltage drift. It was also concluded that mobile ions near the oxide-semiconductor interface produce a sharp increase in fast trapping centers. It was also found that 1/F noise intensity consistently peaked at the threshold of drain breakdown and that it steadily decreased with further increases in drain current. Forty-eight inference equations are presented to approximate the hydrocarbon composition of middle distillate fuels and of the solids separating from these fuels at temperatures below their cloud points by consideration of fuel physical inspections. The physical inspections consist of API gravity, aniline point, cloud point, and distillation curves for ten fuels from major United States and European refineries. To determine the percentage of solids separating from cooled fuels, each fuel is filtered over a temperature range from the cloud point to -40 F in 10 F increments. The perceived color balance of a photographic image as a function of its surrounds was investigated. Four images and three surrounds were used in all of their possible combinations. An image was projected onto a screen by means of a slide projector. A colored surround was projected by a second projector so that it encompassed the image. Five observers were asked to "correct" each image viewed within each surround to what he considered the most pleasing color balance. They did this by means of a three wheel subtractive filter system. This thesis constitutes a simulation model of a single feed frational distillation column consisting of a single phase distillate, liquid or vapor product, an equilibrium stage reboiler, and a cascade consisting of theoretical equilibrium stages. The model limitations in addition to the single feed and the single phase distillate are 20 identifiable components, and 100 theoretical equilibrium stages. The thermodynamic data required are vapor-liquid equilibrium data and vapor-liquid enthalpy data, both assumed to be correlatable as functions of temperature. A review of the decomposition of alkyl and aryl azides by thermolysis and photolysis has been accomplished. Organic azides are a very distinct species that undergo its own unique reactions. Azides decompose to form an electron deficient nitrogen having a sextet of elcctrons. This is called a Nitrene. Nitrenes can exist in the singlet or triplet state. The triplet behaves like a diradical. General and specific reactions of nitrenes have been shown with detailed mechanisms accounting for the products. Siegmund Lubin came to the United States of America in 1867, and six years later, after various setbacks, established an optical business in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Experiments in his leisure time led him to a career in moving pictures. His success and accomplishments in the period of two decades were entangled in legal battles which resulted in his return to the optical business.

Mr. Lubin built several studios across the United States in a westward expansion. His studio in Coronado, California in 1915–16, with eastern controls, proved to have been typical of the western studio during the early motion picture days. …

The relationship between manpower and productivity is an important factor in the area of increasing construction costs. Manpower supply is affected by worker mobility, influx of minority workers, work accidents, and training and apprenticeship programs.

A survey was conducted in the state of New Jersey to determine if a manpower shortage existed. The survey was conducted by submitting questionnaires to contractors, unions, owners, and architect-engineers.
