One major goal of education is to nurture students who can take responsibility for their continued growth. In meeting this goal, educators must develop responsible problem solvers for society. This project establishes a classroom management model and activities for elementary teachers to use in setting up programs in their classrooms for developing self-responsibility in their students.

Classroom management models, teacher effectiveness, and student characteristics were researched in developing the model and activities presented in Chapter III and IV. The use of Fourier and modulation transfer techniques implies the ability to characterize an optical system and predict the output resulting from various inputs. In this study, the optical system is defined as a projection system, rear projection screen, and the human eye. A determination of modulation thresholds of visibility for a series of sinusoidal (in transmittance) test objects results after some manipulation in the modulation transfer function of the complete system. This study was designed to investigate whether teaching mothers to ask divergent questions would have a direct effect on their four year old child 's creativity. It was hypothesized that children whose mothers received the training in divergent questioning techniques would do better on a test of creativity than children whose mothers, did not receive the training.

The feasibility of photographic speed values for positive photoresist is evaluated. Speed is defined as the reciprocal of exposure necessary to produce a desired response. An outline of the microlithographic process, the chemistry of positive resist, and previous exposure models precede the experimental body of work to facilitate understanding of the photoresist system. The experimental method proposes a mathematical model describing the resist response to exposure. Photographic speed values result from this model. Image restoration by short space spectral subtraction has been applied recursively to a photographic system in an attempt to increase the signal to noise ratio proportionally to the amount of optical density present. The image is smoothed in the frequency domain a small space at a time based on the power spectrum at a given density level. The method is a variable filter that is a function of photographic density.

Direct transfer cylinders are usually imaged from positives created off of the camera back. In this thesis a method was proposed to create positives from a dot-generating laser scanner that would fit the requirements of direct transfer cylinders. A test gray scale was scanned and a positive produced which contained square dots as opposed to round dots. This positive was used to etch a cylinder and then the cylinder was run on the Champlaln rotogravure press, located in the school of printing.
