During the past year I have had the opportunity of working closely with a collection of Saudi Arabian woven textiles and other crafts. These textiles are characterized by the combination of a great variety of techniques, indicating a diffusion of techniques between the Arabian Peninsula and adjacent cultures. The frequent combination of both warp-faced and weft-faced structures within a single woven piece is particularly fascinating, as it rarely occurs in other cultures. The permanence of printed documents and books appears to be primarily dependent on paper stability. Other researchers implicate pH as a major factor in the deterioration rate of paper and acidity as major the cause of this deterioration. During the lithographic printing process, ink is in direct contact with fountain solution, which can be acidic or alkaline. Fountain solution is a mixture of water and chemicals used to keep the non-image areas of a lithographic plate moist. Previous work has shown evidence that some emulsion stabilizers can prevent rearrangement of adsorbed silver sulfide to a photographically active form. Full gold plus sulfur sensitization may be achieved by simultaneous introduction of the sensitizers or by adding gold after sulfur sensitization. As gold sensitization of an already optimally sulfur-sensitized emulsion may instead involve a direct chemical reaction, the effect of stabilizers on gold sensitization may not parallel their effect on sulfur sensitization. The stabilizers 6-methyl-4-hydroxy-l , 3 , 3a , 7-tet razaindene and l-phenyl-5-mercaptotetrazole retard but do not prevent gold sensitization in a sulfur sensitized emulsion. This may suggest …

Each node accepts and translates data from the user in a sequential fashion into the appropriate protocol structure for transmission to another node. Each node has the capability of full duplex operation. This research investigates the relationship between personality as measured by the Singer-Loomis Inventory of Personality and the quantity of mystical experiences as measured by the Mysticism Scale. A review of the literature shows that introverts have more awareness of the archetypes and the archetypes often appear in mystical experiences. Awareness of mystical experiences is precisely what the Mysticism Scale measures.

Sensitization Of An Oxadiazole Derivative As An Organic Photoconductor, Claude G. Ceintrey

The sensitization and the spectral sensitization of the photoconductivity of an organic derivative, 2,5-bis (p-diethyl-aminophenyl) - 1,3, 4-oxadiazole, was studied once an electrostatic sensitometer had been built. Among 27 dyes tested representing 8 different classes, only the triarylmethane-type dyes and rhodamine-type dyes have a sensitizing effect which does not seem to be correlated with energy level considerations. The main effect of the sensitizers, once they have formed charge-transfer complexes, is to increase the dark decay reaction, and, thus, they are not suitable as practical products.

Chronic administration of diisopropyl fluorophosphate (DFP) at 72 hour intervals for a total of 14 doses resulted in a reduction in the number of central muscarinic receptors in mice as measured by the specific binding of [3H]Quinuclidinyl benzilate (QNB) to cortical tis sue homogenates (pmole/mg protein). The number of cholinergic receptors were reduced significantly by 12% in DFP treated animals (0.687 + 0.018 pmoles/mg) as compared to vehicle treated controls (0.781 +0.016 pmoles/ mg) after the sixth dose of DFP (Day 17). The decrease in the number of central cholinergic receptors was maximal after the 8th dose of DFP (Day …
