Oyotunji Village, the Yoruba movement in America, is a history of the life of Oseijeman Adefunmi, (Walter Serge King), and the Yoruba movement he founded. Although this movement concentrates mainly on cultural nationalism, it has similarities to nineteenth and early twentieth century Black Nationalist movements. These similarities include their attempts to bring about change thru the rejection of American culture, the establishment of all-Black governments within America or Africa, the acceptance of African or Asiatic culture, and the rejection of the name Negro as a means of identifying their national origin. The present work was conducted to determine the influence of methods of preparation of corncob acid-resistant hemicellulose on its chemical composition and rat growth stimulation. ARH preparations involved either treatment with cation resin, solubilization of crude ARH and reprecipitation in ethanol, treatment of the hydrolysate with carbon or recovery of the non-dialyzable portion of corncob hydrolysate. All ARH preparations significantly improved growth and feed utilization of rats when fed at the 0.05% level of the diet. The reduction of the phenolic content of the ARH preparation did not influence rat growth. The carbohydrate components of the ARH preparation were similar …

Prototheca Isolation Medium (PIM) was proven to be effective in selectively isolating Prototheca, even from heavily contaminated natural sources. Measurements of the autospores of 125 isolates of Prototheca indicated that there might exist two sub-genera, one with small autospores and one with large autospores. The addition of one percent sodium acetate to PIM resulted in a medium that inhibited the growth of isolates of the small spored sub-genus while allowing isolates of the large spored sub-genus to grow normally. A survey of various environmental habitats showed that Prototheca was common in aquatic habitats such as streams and sewage. The largest …

The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that collective bargaining is a viable alternative to unilateral policy making by boards of education in Pennsylvania's public schools. Corollary hypotheses tested were that teacher participation in some traditional management functions is beneficial and that a limited right to strike is necessary to make the collective bargaining process work. This study examines the relative effect of non-verbal behaviors and the subjects social class on Judged levels of empathy communicated In role-played counseling interviews. Sixty-three randomly selected male subjects representing three social classes, uppermiddle, middle and lower, were used in a randomized block design and rated twelve counselor-client interactions Involving three types of non-verbal behaviors; affect display, regulators and indicators, on a modified Truax-Carkhuff Emapthy Scale. A two-way analysis of variance was used to analyze the data and test three hypotheses.
