Curriculum Inferences For Secondary School Teachers In Population Education Within The School System Of Thailand, Manit Subhakul
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
During the 1970's educational leaders in Thailand worked towards a plan to adopt population education at all levels in the educational system. At the time of this study, population education had been integrated into almost every level within the school system. Providing courses in population education at all school levels had increased the need for population teachers and instructional materials. The purposes of this study were: (1) to draw inferences about the suitability of contemporary population education teacher programs in Thailand for providing qualified teachers for secondary schools; (2) to provide basic information helpful in establishing programs in keeping with …

A New Assessment Of The Archaeological Significance Of The Ashworth Site (15bu236)., Philip James Diblasi 1954-
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Reinvestigation of a National Register property, the Ashworth Rockshelter (15BU236), northeast of Shepardsville, Bullitt Co., Kentucky, revealed stratified Early Archaic through Mississippian components (ca. 7900 B.C.-1500 A.D.). Primary occupation occurred under the shelter and eight meters (horizontally) of talus were located. The depth of the deposit is two meters, the lowest third representing the Early Archaic period. Forty-five culturally-diagnostic projectile points delineated the strata. Seven well-preserved burials indicate early mortality, severe physical conditions, and a preference to bury under the shelter. Well-preserved mollusks and vertebrate remains indicate a subsistence shift from aquatic to forest-edge communities from Early to Late Archaic …

Economic Analysis Of The Changing Structure Of The South Dakota Pork Industry, Kevin Keith Weischedel
Economic Analysis Of The Changing Structure Of The South Dakota Pork Industry, Kevin Keith Weischedel
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In 1979, 3,232,000 hogs were slaughtered in South Dakota. Only seven states in the nation exceeded this total. This places South Dakota in a position of prominence in the national pork industry. There is considerable physical potential for further growth of the South Dakota pork industry. With ample supplies of land, labor, and feed grain available, the number of hogs and pigs in the state could expand. For this expansion in production to occur, state swine growers would have to alter production plans. The decision to increase numbers of hogs and pigs is influenced by many factors at both the …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
A Sarcocystis species found in the wapiti (American elk) of South Dakota was macroscopically, microscopically, and ultrastructurally examined. Macroscopic and microscopic examination provided typical features of a sarcocyst, whereas ultrastructural examination revealed unique features in the primary cyst wall and a quadripartite arrangement of organelles in the merozoite. The sarcocysts observed were shiny white elongated ellipsoids embedded in what appeared to be an intramuscular vacuole. The primary cyst wall consisted of densely packed palisade-like protrusions (villi) and a wide underlying ground substance. Distinctive features of the palisade-like villi included peripherally supportive microfibrils which did not extend into the underlying ground …
Effects Of Potassium Supplementation At Two Levels Of Lysine In Weanling Pig Diets, Siyambango L. Siyoto
Effects Of Potassium Supplementation At Two Levels Of Lysine In Weanling Pig Diets, Siyambango L. Siyoto
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
It has long been established that lysine is the first limiting amino acid in cereal based diets for growing pigs. Some studies have shown that corn is first limiting in tryptophan for growing pigs while other studies indicate that lysine and tryptophan are equally limiting. Soybean meal is usually added to corn diets to supply the lysine required but in some countries where soybean meal is not easily available, fish and meat meals are the common protein supplements. In the developing countries, soybean meal, fish meal and meat meal are not only in short supply but also very expensive. Lysine …

Infrared Study Of Adsorbed Trans-Stilbene And Azobenzene, Chien Shih
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Previous reflectance study in our laboratory has shown that stilbenes and azobenzenes adsorbed on alumina or silica undergo a more-or-less reversible loss of olefinic double bond character up on irradiation at appropriate wavelengths, and an intermediate was proposed. The purpose of this work was trying to characterize the intermediate using infrared technique. Stilbene exists in two isomeric forms. The molecular structure of trans-stilbene was found to be almost planar in the solid state with the phenyl rings only slightly twisted from the general plane of the molecule, 1 and a careful study by Suzuki indicates that it is safe to, …
Oat Grain Rations For Growing And Finishing Cattle, Randal W. Rosenboom
Oat Grain Rations For Growing And Finishing Cattle, Randal W. Rosenboom
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Mechanical processing to alter physical and possibly chemical properties is one attempt to improve the value of a feedstuff. Processing methods such as grinding and rolling reduce particle size. These methods may result in an increase in rate of passage through the digestive tract but with more total efficiency in utilization of nutrients. This has been shown for roughages where grinding of hay resulted in improved daily gain and feed efficiency over those obtained with unprocessed hay. Reduction in particle size of concentrates has not shown the response in daily gain as that for roughages. Rather, the main advantage for …

Sport And Poetry : An Exploration Of The Inter-Relatedness Of Words And Actions, Ardis C. Resen
Sport And Poetry : An Exploration Of The Inter-Relatedness Of Words And Actions, Ardis C. Resen
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Human experience is a basic element of the gossamer thread that is life. Communication or response to experience relates human beings to one another. Humans have an inborn desire to "tell” their experiences. Words accompany actions. Movement is experience that, in general, evokes response and expression. In sport, language is part of the game. Microphones bring the guttural responses of the participants closer to the audience. But actual words--language in a more refined sense have been devalued in recent years, especially in the area of sport, which should be rich in language. Today's culture seems to assume that the only …

Modeling And Testing Of A Solar Energy Intensifier System, Rita M. Polak
Modeling And Testing Of A Solar Energy Intensifier System, Rita M. Polak
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Widespread adoption of solar energy as an alternate energy source is dependent upon careful engineering design. Mathematical models are among the best engineering design tools, because design alternatives can be evaluated without extensive testing and solar systems can be sized and oriented to suit each particular application. Research has been conducted at South Dakota State University since 1976 to develop, through design and testing, a portable, low cost, concentrating solar system for agricultural applications. Solar energy can readily be substituted for other energy sources in agriculture because many such applications do not require a continuous, uninterrupted energy supply and may …
