An Investigation Of Production Control Systems And Methods Used In Selected Small Commercial Printing Plants, Donald Nelso Rollo
An Investigation Of Production Control Systems And Methods Used In Selected Small Commercial Printing Plants, Donald Nelso Rollo
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The subject of production control systems in small commercial printing plants is a fascinating one to this author. It involves employment of every management technique that has been devised by manufacturing production engineers. Commercial printing activities are defined as all these printing plants producing a printed product on a jobbing bagels. Further clarification of printing industry activities is the separation of printing and publishing activities; publishing being limited to the printing of newspapers, magazines, books and miscellaneous items of like nature. Jobbing shops are those whose operations are usually of a non- repressive nature, becomes the output is not produced …
The Curtain Antenna Design, Cheng-Lee Chao
The Curtain Antenna Design, Cheng-Lee Chao
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This paper treats, in an elementary way, the antenna array problems, the effect of varying antenna array spacing and the relative power intensity of antenna arrays. The radiation of a directive antenna might be projected from one to another with highest efficiency and a minimum of interference with adjacent stations. We have to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and discriminate against undesirable noise. The principles of radiation on the wave theory have been known for several centuries. The wave theory of light was first proposed by the English physicist Robert Hooke in 1665 and developed twenty years later by the Dutch …
Effects Of Irrigation And Fertilization On Alfalfa Yield And Quality, Donald J. Brosz
Effects Of Irrigation And Fertilization On Alfalfa Yield And Quality, Donald J. Brosz
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The quality of agricultural products is a concern of the American farmer. Quality alone often decides the market value of his product and may be the deciding issue in his net profit. So that he may demand top prices, the producer of bread wheat must produce a grain which is high in protein because high protein wheat is required by flour mills for high grade flour. The farmer raising barley, however, may have to aim for low protein grain since this is the most desirable for the malting industry. The shape, size, and cooking quality of potatoes seems to improve …
Dynamic Effect On Concrete And Reinforced Concrete Beams, Fuat Metin
Dynamic Effect On Concrete And Reinforced Concrete Beams, Fuat Metin
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The object of this thesis is to analyze the strength and behavior of concrete and reinforced concrete beams which are subjected to impact loading. Most structures are designed to carry dead load plus static load which is designated as live load. For the analysis, the principles of statics are used. When dynamic loads act on structures, principles of dynamics are used for the stress analysis. The dynamic characteristics of a member depend on several factors: among them being: the characteristics of the loads applied to the member, the characteristics of the member under the impact load. Some of the variables …
Mathematical Analysis And Evaluation Of The Law Of Corresponding States For Real Gases, Simion C.Y. Kuo
Mathematical Analysis And Evaluation Of The Law Of Corresponding States For Real Gases, Simion C.Y. Kuo
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The science of thermodynamics deals mainly with the eight thermodynamical properties of substances (usually in gas or vapor state). The relation of P-V-T of a substance is usually represented by the equation of state which, in general, can be expressed in the form f(P,V,T)= 0. The practical application of the law of corresponding states is generally accomplished in two different ways, namely, the generalized compressibility charts and the generalized equations of state. The mathematical analysis of the law of corresponding states is to be treated in this study. The law of corresponding states was first proposed by Van Der Waals …
The Design And Development Of A Pasture Furrower For Constructing Contour Furrows Without Destroying The Sod, Henry T. Knudson
The Design And Development Of A Pasture Furrower For Constructing Contour Furrows Without Destroying The Sod, Henry T. Knudson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The production of grass in pastures of sloping terrain is usually limited by the lack of soil moisture. Moisture which would otherwise be available for plant growth is lost due to a high degree of surface runoff. When the rate of precipitation exceeds the rate in which water infiltrates into the soil, surface depressions are filled and overland flow begins. Pastures on sloping land are susceptible to high runoff rates. This is due in part to the fact that grazing lessens surface detention, when slopes are covered with thick stands of grass, a rather large volume of precipitation will be …

The Cost Of Manufacturing Butter And Non-Fat Milk Solids In Two Model Plants In South Dakota, Cleveland Aldridge Christophe
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The Dairying industry has undergone and will undergo evolutionary adjustments. Many changes have already taken place. This is evidenced by the change in the size of herds; the shifting from the sale of farm separated cream to the sale of whole milk; the improved methods of feeding; improved feeds and the changed system (adopted by many farmers) of purchasing feed requirements; the change in consumption trend, and finally, the system of marketing dairy products. The changes started with World War I, when the prices of all products were soaring. These changes took the form of (1) variation in supply, (2) …
The Attitudes Of South Dakota State College Women Students Toward Physical Education, Peggy Meister Foss
The Attitudes Of South Dakota State College Women Students Toward Physical Education, Peggy Meister Foss
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Physical educators are concerned not only with the teaching of specific skills but also with the development of democratic values, character and favorable attitudes toward one’s problems, work, competitors and co-workers. These values and attitudes underline behavior and personality development and are acquired through interaction with others. This involves the learning process as well as the subject matter taught. Sometimes instructors place too much emphasis upon subject matter and too little upon the learning process. The learning process may be characterized, in part, by Thorndike’s laws of learning. He has stated that students learn best when they are physically and …

Economic And Organizational Aspects Of Cooperative Feedyards, Harlan J. Dirks
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
During the past few years the cattle feeding industry in the United States has undergone many physical, technological changes. One of the most noticeable changes has been the growth of commercial and large-scale cattle feeding operations. Practically all of these beef factories are located on the west coast and other states in the southwest. States where most of the commercial and large-scale feeding is done include: California, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Arizona, and Nebraska. In California, for example, 68 per cent of the cattle on feed are fed in lots of over 10,000 head. There are a number of reasons …

An Investigation Of Optimum Spacing Of Fins For Maximum Heat Loss In Free Convection, Lloyd Duane Lee
An Investigation Of Optimum Spacing Of Fins For Maximum Heat Loss In Free Convection, Lloyd Duane Lee
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In designing a heat exchanger, an engineer is interested in the highest possible efficiency of the unit. If he is designing a transistor with an internal heat source, he is interested in dissipating this heat energy to the surrounding air or heat sink. In these and other devices, the engineer wants a design that gives a maximum heat loss, or heat transfer, per unit of base surface. The heat transfer coefficient of a heated object can be increased by extending its surface, thereby providing more surface area for heat transfer. If the maximum heat loss per unit area of base …
