One of the conclusions of anthropologists is that of cultural variability and the relativity of value systems. This means that the designs for living with its system of moral values which one society has evolved may differ considerably from those of another. Each society has their unique value system (moral code). The Dakota Indians have (or had) theirs and the people of Western civilization have theirs. The successful operation of sewage stabilization ponds by a number of North and South Dakota communities during the past few years has shown this method of disposal to be adequate in taking care of the needs of small communities. Since land is relatively cheap compared to construction work involved in the building of a sewage treatment plant, and since the actual construction cost of a stabilization pond I s a comparatively small figure, this type of treatment has been readily accepted by the smaller communities. The purpose of this study is to determine the location and positions physical education graduates of South Dakota State college and to determine if they have positions in physical education; to learn how much of their time is spent in physical education; how much time they spend coaching; and whether or not they are advancing with respect to position and monetary standards. A bizarre organism was isolated in 1953 in a Castaneda blood culture flask in an attempt to determine the cause of septicemia in a child. It was discovered that the organism causing this septicemia was morphologically and physiologically similar to one of the organisms causing rat bite fever, which to this time had never been isolated in South Dakota. It was impossible under the circumstances to make any positive identification of the organism. Microscopic slides were saved with the expectation that circumstances would become favorable for research with the suspected organism, Streptocaillus monilformis. Animals infected with Leptospira do not always display the acute signs of the disease but may have a sub-clinical chronic form which may go unnoticed. These infected animals may continue to infect the healthy animals which they contact. The presence of the disease has been demonstrated in almost every state either by the presence of antibodies, identification of the organisms in tissue section, or by culture isolation. Alfalfa in South Dakota as in other parts of the United States and the world is adversely affected by a disease known as Blackstem. This disease is induced by one or more fungi or bacteria whose abundance depends as much on the high susceptibility of the current alfalfa varieties as on the weather. Differences in plant susceptibility to one of these microorganisms, Ascochyta imperfect, has already been shown to occur within and between alfalfa varieties or strains. The nitrogen status of South Dakota soils was once very high, but due to our intensive type of farming, the supply of this essential element is rapidly being exhausted. It has been estimated that thirty to forty percent of the original nitrogen content has been lost as a result of farming, erosion, and various other factors. This continuous removal of nitrogen, primarily through cropping has caused pronounced and widespread nitrogen deficiency symptoms to show up in many areas of the state. Feed processing and handling of livestock feeds have benefited from the use of fats in many ways. Nutritionally speaking, several reasons in favor of the use of stabilized animal fats in feeds have been reported. However, the optimum level and value of added fats in the rations for ruminants are not well established and further work is needed. The bacteria examined in this study are facultative psychrohiles, which have their origin in the mesophilic group. Different members of the group have their optimum growth at temperatures slightly below the mesophilic range, but will grow at temperatures ranging from below zero to 25 degrees C. they have become increasingly important with the advent of the frozen food industry.
