Nailing Ectoplasm To The Wall: Serials Control & E-Journals, Martha Gunnarson May 2002

Nailing Ectoplasm To The Wall: Serials Control & E-Journals, Martha Gunnarson

Martha Gunnarson

Serials control has been described as being like "nailing jello to the wall." Electronic journals add (or is it take away?) a whole new dimension to the librarian's life.

In this presentation, I will take a look at some of the issues involved in setting up (and maintaining) access to e-journals.

Will the new paperless journals make your life easier?

Finding out what’s available

How much will it cost?

How consortial agreements can help keep costs in line

Freebies - are they any good?

Good things come to those who wait - new options appear on the horizon

What kind …

Dengue And Aedes Aegypti: A Public Health Problem Along The United States-Mexico Border (Lecture Number 1 - A Series Of Dengue Lectures), Frank Cortez Flores Dec 1999

Dengue And Aedes Aegypti: A Public Health Problem Along The United States-Mexico Border (Lecture Number 1 - A Series Of Dengue Lectures), Frank Cortez Flores

Frank Cortez Flores

My primary public health interest is the reemerging arboviral infections (e.g., dengue) that are increasing in incidence, expanding into new geographic areas, affecting new populations, and are threatening to increase in the near future, especially following a natural disaster (e.g., hurricanes). The goal of the dengue lecture series is to promote the recognition of dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever and improve the understanding of factors involved in prevention, surveillance and control of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the principal mosquito vector of dengue virus. The purpose of these lectures is to accelerate learning and development of an effective dengue prevention and …

Soil Treatment For Restoration Projects, David A. Bainbridge Jan 1999

Soil Treatment For Restoration Projects, David A. Bainbridge

David A Bainbridge

Soil treatment is a critical step in restoration projects. When soil problems are ignored restoration projects fail. Erosion, compaction, limited infiltration and other problems can make a site very different from its historic function and structure. Treatment can be done with equipment or by hand and will greatly improve chances for success.

Aging And Diabetes Mellitus: A Dental Public Health Problem Along The Us-Mexico Border, Frank Cortez Flores Jan 1998

Aging And Diabetes Mellitus: A Dental Public Health Problem Along The Us-Mexico Border, Frank Cortez Flores

Frank Cortez Flores

My primary dental public health interest is highlighting the importance of oral infections in patients with diabetes mellitus. The goal of the diabetes lecture (Oral Health Lectures Series) is to promote the early recognition of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (Type 2 DM) and improve the understanding of diabetic risk factors involved in the prevention, surveillance and control of oral infections. Type 2 diabetes, a non-communicable disease, is a major public health problem affecting certain ethnic groups. The theme of the lecture/presentations is awareness and learning. Although space constraints does not allow addressing every infection that is seen in patients with …

Forest Gardens Of The Maya, David A. Bainbridge

David A Bainbridge
