Enterprise cloud adoption has accelerated dramatically, yet governance frameworks struggle to keep pace with evolving architectural complexity. This research examines how organizations can embed governance principles directly into cloud architecture designs rather than treating compliance as an afterthought. We investigate the integration of regulatory requirements, risk management protocols, and organizational policies into cloud infrastructure patterns that enforce governance automatically. The study addresses critical gaps where traditional governance approaches fail in dynamic cloud environments, particularly around data sovereignty, access control, audit requirements, and regulatory compliance. Through analysis of existing cloud governance challenges and architectural patterns, we propose a comprehensive framework that …

The recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) have garnered widespread acclaim for their remarkable emerging capabilities. However, the issue of hallucination has parallelly emerged as a by-product, posing significant concerns. While some recent endeavors have been made to identify and mitigate different types of hallucination, there has been a limited emphasis on the nuanced categorization of hallucination and associated mitigation methods. To address this gap, we offer a finegrained discourse on profiling hallucination based on its degree, orientation, and category, along with offering strategies for alleviation. As such, we define two overarching orientations of hallucination: (i) factual mirage (FM) …

Data-Integrity Aware Stochastic Model For Cascading Failures In Power Grids, Rezoan Ahmed Shuvro, Pankaz Das, Jamir Shariar Jyoti, Joana M. Abreu, Majeed M. Hayat

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Research and Publications

The reliable operation of power grids during cascading failures is heavily dependent on the interdependencies between the power grid components and the supporting communications and control networks. Moreover, the system operators' expertise in dealing with cascading failures can play a pivotal role during contingencies. In this paper, a dynamical probabilistic model is developed based on Markov-chains, which captures the dynamics of cascading failures in the power grid. Specifically, a previously developed Markov-chain based model is extended to capture the trade-off between the benefits of having a robust communication infrastructure and its vulnerability from data integrity (e.g., cyber-attacks). State-space reduction of …

A Structure-Aware Generative Adversarial Network For Bilingual Lexicon Induction, Bocheng Han, Qian Tao, Lusi Li, Zhihao Xiong 2023 South China University of Technology

A Structure-Aware Generative Adversarial Network For Bilingual Lexicon Induction, Bocheng Han, Qian Tao, Lusi Li, Zhihao Xiong

Computer Science Faculty Publications

Bilingual lexicon induction (BLI) is the task of inducing word translations with a learned mapping function that aligns monolingual word embedding spaces in two different languages. However, most previous methods treat word embeddings as isolated entities and fail to jointly consider both the intra-space and inter-space topological relations between words. This limitation makes it challenging to align words from embedding spaces with distinct topological structures, especially when the assumption of isomorphism may not hold. To this end, we propose a novel approach called the Structure-Aware Generative Adversarial Network (SA-GAN) model to explicitly capture multiple topological structure information to achieve accurate …

Data-Driven Reachability Analysis For Gaussian Process State Space Models, Paul Griffioen, Murat Arcak

Faculty Work Comprehensive List

Gaussian process state space models are becoming common tools for the analysis and design of nonlinear systems with uncertain dynamics. When designing control policies for these systems, safety is an important property to consider. In this paper, we provide safety guarantees by computing finite-horizon forward reachable sets for Gaussian process state space models. We use data-driven reachability analysis to provide exact probability measures for state trajectories of arbitrary length, even when no data samples are available. We investigate two numerical examples to demonstrate the power of this approach, such as providing highly non-convex reachable sets and detecting holes in the …

Adversarial Training Of Deep Neural Networks, Anabetsy Termini 2023 Nova Southeastern University

Adversarial Training Of Deep Neural Networks, Anabetsy Termini

CCAC Theses and Dissertations

Deep neural networks used for image classification are highly susceptible to adversarial attacks. The de facto method to increase adversarial robustness is to train neural networks with a mixture of adversarial images and unperturbed images. However, this method leads to robust overfitting, where the network primarily learns to recognize one specific type of attack used to generate the images while remaining vulnerable to others after training. In this dissertation, we performed a rigorous study to understand whether combinations of state of the art data augmentation methods with Stochastic Weight Averaging improve adversarial robustness and diminish adversarial overfitting across a wide …
