The electrification of the transport sector is a crucial pathway for achieving Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions (NZE) target by 2060. This study assesses the potential impact of passenger electric vehicle (EV) penetration on electricity demand and CO2 emissions in Aceh Province through a scenario-based modelling approach. Two policy-aligned scenarios are assessed: a low-penetration (LP) scenario and a high-penetration (HP) scenario. Using the Gompertz model and the ASIF framework, total CO2 emissions were projected from 2020 to 2060. Results show that although higher EV penetration reduces direct emissions from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, total CO2 emissions increase more significantly under …

Efficient transportation systems are essential for reducing passengers waiting times in densely populated areas. However, there is a dearth of information on the optimization of vehicle mix for three-and four-wheel transportation systems in Nigeria. The present study was designed to optimize the vehicle mix for three-and four-wheel passenger transportation to improve transportation efficiency. Twenty purposively selected vehicles were observed, while a queuing model (M/M/s) was used to determine passenger arrival rates during different periods (morning, afternoon, and evening). This study aims to determine the efficacy of pedestrian bridges in reducing the rates of automobile-pedestrian collisions. Concrete is the primary construction material of bridges, roads, and other transportation infrastructure across the United States, but conventional normal-weight concrete (NWC) is heavy, prone to cracking, and expensive to maintain over time. This study examines the mechanical properties, durability, and lifecycle performance of lightweight aggregate concrete (LWC) and internally cured concrete (ICC) as alternatives in transportation infrastructure applications. Through laboratory testing, computer modeling, and lifecycle analysis, the research evaluates how these materials perform in terms of strength, flexibility, durability, cost, and environmental impact. 3D printing of cementitious materials, as an emerging construction technology, faces challenges in both mechanical performance and sustainability. Conventional mixture designs rely on high cement contents, leading to increased CO2 emissions, while printed elements often exhibit brittle behavior with limited crack resistance and reduced post-cracking performance. This study investigates the development of low-carbon 3D printed cementitious composites using environmentally friendly supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and fillers, combined with fiber reinforcement to enhance mechanical performance. This research evaluates the safety performance of flashing yellow arrows (FYA) and driver behavioral responses in Nebraska, using data from 324 FYA intersections (Lincoln 160; Omaha 164) to develop evidence-based implementation guidance. The study addresses critical knowledge gaps in local driver acceptance patterns, the effectiveness of phasing configurations, and a comprehensive safety assessment that integrates crash and conflict analyses. Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) staff frequently decide on changes to existing two-way stop- controlled (TWSC) intersections on rural expressway to alternative facilities, such as a restricted crossing U-turn (RCUT), a roundabout, a signalized intersection, or an interchange. As Nebraska makes progress toward completion of its expressway system, updated and defensible decision-making is essential for conversion of TWSC highway intersections. NDOT’s existing guidelines, developed in the 1990s, no longer reflect current operations, safety performance, or modern intersection designs.

Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) is an advanced cementitious material known for its exceptional strength and durability, making it an ideal material for bridge deck overlays and repairs that address the common issue of premature deck deterioration. Conventional UHPC is typically flowable and self-leveling, which makes it unsuitable for deck surfaces with cross-slopes and/or sloped vertical profiles. Therefore, a highly thixotropic UHPC that responds well to vibration while remaining stable on sloped surfaces is needed for overlay applications.
