Keeping ‘Em Rolling... From Strollers To Scooters To Semis: Maumee Street Streetscape Improvement, Mike Rechtorik, Amanda Cope
Purdue Road School
Keeping the variety of wheels a-turnin' . . . and a-turnin’ safely in Angola, Indiana, was key when designing the streetscape improvements to Maumee Street, a federal truck route running through the heart of the downtown district. Today, safety challenges have been addressed, and pedestrians stroll along the ADA-compliant sidewalks (originally designed more than a century ago to accommodate the loading and unloading of horse-drawn buggies) adjacent to vehicular traffic that includes a large volume of semi-trucks. Join us for a discussion.
Load Rating Of Bridges Without Plans,
2020
Purdue University
Load Rating Of Bridges Without Plans, Rafael Armendariz, Mark Bowman
Purdue Road School
The presentation will address the challenges of load rating bridges without plans and how a four-step procedure can be used to guide the engineer in determining bridge ratings for poorly documented bridges. The procedure is illustrated through the assessment of an earth-en-filled reinforced concrete arch bridge with no available bridge information.
