This study explores the concept of “a graceful pedagogy” as a framework for academic advising within two-year community colleges, with a focus on supporting students who identify as Black and male. Guided by an approach rooted in diffractive methodology and inspired by bell hooks’ principles of love and engaged pedagogy, the research examines how advisors can create meaningful, equitable, and supportive relationships that account for the unique realities faced by these students. High school counselors in North Carolina assist with post-secondary planning for all their students, including the approximately 3,000 undocumented students who graduate from North Carolina schools each year (Zong & Batalova, 2019). Access to post-secondary education is difficult to attain for undocumented students (Groce & Johnson, 2021), especially true for undocumented students in North Carolina, a state considered hostile to this student population due to tuition and financial aid policy (Mansfield & Hernandez, 2024). Undocumented students also face a fear of deportation, food insecurity, lower socioeconomic conditions, and language barriers (Abrego, 2006).

This study aims to develop a metaverse-based Virtual Reality Counseling (VRC) medium to support psychological services for students with special needs. The research method used is the research and development method with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The results show that the metaverse-based VRC medium has met the media acceptability aspects, making it feasible for effective implementation. Additionally, experimental results indicate a decrease in the levels of mental health disorders experienced by the counselees after undergoing individual counseling assisted by the metaverse-based VRC medium. Interpersonal Process Recall (IPR) is a supervisory strategy that can be used in clinical supervision to help the supervisee discover important events and hidden messages during the counseling session and address issues of anxious attachment. This article seeks to enhance supervisee self-reflection in terms of relevant interpersonal relationship dynamics and therapeutic processes to address anxious attachment. In addition to explaining theoretical concepts, this article provides a case example illustrating how the supervisor used various IPR inquires to help the supervisee understand the problems implied by the client, and the counselor's countertransference and awareness of anxious attachment.

Fink’s Learning Taxonomy expanded upon Bloom’s Learning Taxonomy to provide concrete suggestions on development of significant learning experiences. Limited research exists on implementation of Fink’s learning Taxonomy in counselor education curriculum. Since the global pandemic, several school districts have included SEL as part of the school curriculum. This study investigates the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and job satisfaction in adulthood, mediated by posttraumatic beliefs and core self-evaluation (CSE). Based on the literature, we hypothesized that posttraumatic beliefs, potentially developed following ACEs, would have negative effects on individuals’ CSE and job satisfaction. Structural equation modeling of survey data from 384 employees with at least one ACE revealed that posttraumatic beliefs fully mediated the effect of ACEs on both job satisfaction and CSE. Furthermore, CSE was a partial mediator between posttraumatic beliefs and job satisfaction. These findings highlight the importance of adopting trauma-informed approaches in employment counseling.
