Conflict Management Education In Medicine: Considerations For Curriculum Designers, Jeffery Kaufman
Online Journal for Workforce Education and Development
It is important to address conflict in the medical field for a variety of reasons ranging from reducing turnover to increasing the quality of care received by patients. One way to assist with the management of medical conflict is by teaching resolution techniques to medical personnel. There is an opportunity for conflict management curriculum to address many of the issues facing physicians, administrators, staff and patients, however, it is also necessary for those developing that curriculum to understand the nature of the environment and appropriate conflict management tools to be used in that environment as part of the design process. …

Developing Mechanisms For The Transfer And/Or Adjustment Of Rock Lobster Shares Between Sectors In Western Australia And South Australia., Chris Reid
Fisheries Management Papers
The purpose of this report has been to investigate potential reallocation mechanisms for the transfer and/or adjustment of catch shares between sectors and the requirements to allow for their implementation, with particular reference to their application in the Western and South Australian rock lobster fisheries. While the report focuses on the commercial and recreational sectors of these fisheries, potentially all non-commercial fishing sectors could be included under a given mechanism in the same manner as that outlined for the recreational sector, subject to the appropriateness of allowing the sector’s allocation to be transferable

Strategic Assembly - the comprehensive and coordinated use of internal development, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and alliances - is a novel approach to the construction and management of global firms. This paper describes the role and characteristics of strategic assembly in the construction and management of the Global Multi-Business Firm, an emerging form of global organization. We present a study of Group Renault and its relationship with two key players in the lucrative and emerging market for autos in Turkey, emphasizing the coevolutionary processes through which local players enter and dominate a local market and the global parent, utilizing local …

Consumer Choice Tactics For Common, Repeat Purchase Products: Using Tissues And Deodorant To Predict And Understand Consumer Behavior, Alicia Elizabeth Dixon
Undergraduate Honors Thesis Collection
Currently there is limited research on the consumer decision-making process for low involvement products. The purpose of my study was to better understand the consumer decision-making process for common, repeat purchase products. Specifically, I was looking at how gender and generational differences impacted the decision-making process when purchasing two low-involvement products, tissues and deodorant. One hundred and ten students, staff and faculty were asked to look at a constructed store aisle and purchase both a box of tissues and stick of deodorant and complete a questionnaire responding to questions regarding their decision choice. The questiOl1J1ai re collected information regarding six …

Does Female Representation On Boards Of Directors Associate With Increased Transparency And Ethical Behavior?, Meredith B. Larkin
Honors Senior Capstones and Theses
This study examined the association between corporate transparency and ethical orientation of Fortune 500 companies and the number of females represented on the board of directors from 2010 annual report data. My basis for this judgment was whether or not the firm was listed on either (both) Ethisphere Magazine’s 2010 “World’s Most Corporate Citizens List”. My results indicate that, as the number of women directors increased, the probability of a corporation appearing on these lists increases. I also found that a “critical mass” of women directors was indicated by the data for Ethisphere Magazine’s but not Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s list. …

Renée Crown University Honors Thesis Projects - All
In this thesis, I will investigate the work structures and day-to-day operational analysis of independent record labels (“indies”) from across the United States and UK. These findings will then be applied to my personal experiences running an independent record label in Syracuse, New York as a way to evaluate our own operations.
My research constitutes a combination of scholarly studies and personal interviews with 9 different labels, studying work hierarchies, communication methods, office layout, artist interaction, creative disputes, and customer interaction.
In general, indies embrace flexibility, a pragmatic approach to costs and strategy, and a relatively informal power structure, alongside …

The Creative Coach: Exploring The Synergies Between Creative Problem Solving: Thinking Skills Model And Non-Directive Coaching, Trevor J. Mcalpine
Creativity and Change Leadership Graduate Student Master's Projects
This project looks at the similarities and differences between the most recent version of Creative Problem Solving called Creative Problem Solving: Thinking Skills Model and the approach to coaching known as Non-Directive Coaching. Creativity practitioners are challenged to find opportunities of engaging in formal full-blown, group-based Creative Problem Solving sessions. There is a need to find other, less formal ways of helping people use their creativity. The Thinking Skills Model’s design allows it to mesh with the creative process in other content areas by making the basic concepts of Creative Problem Solving transferable to those other contexts. Non-Directive Coaching …

HELP of Southern Nevada (HELP), a not-for-profit agency, would like to expand their current services by operating a thrift store. It is anticipated that this thrift store would bring in additional revenue and also benefit their current programs. In direct conversations with the Chief Operating Officer of HELP, areas of concern were expressed regarding the implementation process of the thrift store. These areas pertained to size and location of their potential facility, staffing issues, and distribution priority of donated goods to their existing programs. Analysis was conducted through on-site interviews with other executives of Southern Nevada not-for profit thrift stores …
How Do Stakeholder Pressures Drive Proactive Environmental Strategies? External Institutional Forces And Legitimacy,

How Do Stakeholder Pressures Drive Proactive Environmental Strategies? External Institutional Forces And Legitimacy, David Graham Hyatt
Student Scholarship
Previous research indicates that stakeholder pressures can drive proactive environmental firm strategies--that is, strategies that reflect an internalized, voluntary commitment to the natural environment and typically involve dedication to environmental leadership by the firm. An institutional perspective highlights how legitimizing strategies can mediate the effect of stakeholder pressures on proactive environmental strategies. Furthermore, by distinguishing between "internal" and "external" normative pressures, this chapter theoretically accounts for the institutionally plural contexts of organizations and their environments. The findings suggest that though internal pressures directly drive environmental proactivity, external pressures drive legitimating responses and then indirectly affect environmental proactivity

Employees' Brand Commitment In The Service Industry : Luxury Hotel Chains In Malaysia., Cheng Siew Yee
Student Works (2010-2019)
This recent study examines employer branding as a concept for enhancing employees’ brand commitment in the luxury hotel chains in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Employer branding is viewed as a holistic process which consists of several dimensions in communicating their employees’ attitude and commitment to the organizations and customers. In this study, research related to the indicators of employees’ brand commitment is reviewed to construct a conceptual framework of employer brand. This concept has received limited awareness from past researchers, particularly in the context of luxury hotel chains in the Eastern countries. For a clearer understanding on the employees’ brand commitment …

Non-Financial Indicators Of Family Firm Performance: A Portfolio Model Approach, John E. Neff
Student Scholarship
This study sought to explore and understand the drivers of family firm performance from a non-financial perspective. The key research question underlying this research is whether certain organizational traits may compose a predictor of firm financial performance. This research extends the findings of an earlier inductive study on aspects of success in private family owned manufacturing firms. Organizational traits identified in the prior inductive study appeared to influence either or both the family and the business and ultimately the long term sustainability of family firms. Research findings suggest that certain organizational features combine to form an 'effective family business culture' …

Obesity has become an epidemic amongst American youth in the 21st century, and is spreading not only into other developed nations such as the UK and Australia, but is also beginning to effect developing nations such as India (Bhardwaj, 2008). It is estimated that nationwide, childhood obesity affects around 17% of American children (Center For Disease Control, 2011). Obesity has been linked to many health disorders, including but not limited to, heart disease and diabetes. Subsequently, this rise in childhood obesity is having a severe impact on the healthcare services sector in America, with some studies suggesting childhood obesity in …
