日本僧人《世説新語》注考論 : 江户學問僧之一側面, Bowei Zhang

嶺南學報 Lingnan Journal of Chinese Studies

明代王世貞删改劉義慶《世説新語》和何良俊《語林》而成《世説新語補》，此書在日本江户時代甚爲流行，並且出現了大量的注釋本。在這一注釋群體中，有一批僧人特别引人注目。本文在全面把握相關史料的基礎上，勾勒出江户時期僧人《世説》注的整體面貌，揭示了僧人《世説》注的貢獻和特點，對其學術淵源作了更爲準確的釐清。希望透過這一研究，提請學術界對江户學問僧之成就與貢獻的注意，並再次呼籲將東亞漢傳佛教的文獻當做一個整體來處理，逐步打破以國别爲單位的佛教文獻、思想、信仰的研究。

蠶絲業在廣東近代經濟中具有舉足輕重的地位。20世紀二三十年代，私立嶺南大學蠶絲科根據廣東蠶絲業發展現狀，開展調查研究，展開蠶病治理與預防，改良蠶種培育與育蠶及桑種培育與栽桑技術，重視成果技術推廣，致力於廣東蠶絲業的發展，開展了一系列富有成效的活動。嶺南大學蠶絲科的發展既是美國改良廣東蠶絲的迫切需要的推動，又離不開廣東發展經濟的客觀要求，也是華人致力於嶺南大學“中國化”持續努力的結果；在促進蠶絲技術的改進，提高蠶絲品質的同時，增强了廣東蠶絲的市場競争力；也打破了傳統的蠶絲生産觀念，促進了蠶農對蠶絲應用技術的重視，在一定程度上促進了蠶絲業的發展。

從《論語》看孔子與《易傳》之關係, Hung Kan Chan

歷來言《易傳》作者，或以爲出孔子之手，或以爲非孔子所作，莫衷一是。本文在前賢研究基礎上，從《論語》入手，找出書中孔子言論與傳世《易傳》内容相似之處，共得１７ 條，所言道理，包括朋友講習、改過遷善、節用愛民、慎言節食、敬義立德、寡慾致剛、不貳己過、順言以悦、非禮勿履、尊卑有序、止息争訟、赦過宥罪、思不出位、君子固窮、裒多益寡、修美文德、不言而行。以上諸點，《論語》與《易傳》立論，互爲表裏。據此，知孔子之於《易傳》，雖無撰述之實，或有闡述之功。本文證明《論語》與《象傳》及《彖傳》具密切關係，此對孔子闡述《易傳》之説，或可提供足資參考之佐證。

A lively and cosmopolitan modernist literature and art scene thrived in early 20th Century Japan, as cities such as Tokyo and Osaka grew rapidly, and writers and artists established connections with their counterparts across the globe. This article introduces a curricular initiative linking language and literature courses at a liberal arts college in the northeastern United States. In the spring 2013 and fall 2014 semesters, we concurrently taught an advanced-level Japanese language course and a literature seminar, both of which focused on ethnic “minorities” in Japan. This arrangement allowed students to utilize their linguistic and literary analytical skills and integrated their learning in both Japanese and English. By reading the same texts and discussing surrounding issues in both languages, students began to see how the cultural context of language shapes different approaches to a topic. Based …

Opinions on the impacts of China in Africa differ from one observer to the next, be it in media, academic, or elsewhere. While most general discourses have been nuanced and coherent, there is nevertheless a prevailing sentiment of unbridled fear and Sinophobia, or anti-Chinese populism. Based on a two-sided study in Ghana, this research uses Chinese-Ghanaian employment relations as a way of entry to analyze and explore cross-cultural understandings, or lack thereof, that leads to conflict. The 1990 Nepali Constitution opened up opportunities for many forms of activism, and identity groups thus began solidifying to advocate for social change and justice (Karki 2012). After the Nepali Supreme Court ruling in 2007, Nepal became one of the first countries to offer a third gender category “Other,” becoming a leader for human rights in South Asia and the world (Mahato 2017). As Coyle and Boyce (2013) point out, there is little research on LGBTI individuals in Nepal. Furthermore, they advocate for more research and closer work with gender and sexual minority individuals in Nepal.

"The student-curated exhibition “Boating in the Floating World” focuses on images of boats in ukiyo-e prints as represented in some works from the collection of the RISD Museum. Boats were occasionally depicted in the 18th century celebrity-focused figurative genres. Fairly often they appeared in bijinga – images of beauties, rarely in yakusha-e – portraits of kabuki theater actors, sometimes in compositions derived from literature, history or lore. Of the many artifacts found in Gettysburg College’s Musselman library, perhaps the most unusual and seemingly out of place may be the centuries-old replica of a samurai suit and katana standing guard over visitors and students from an oversized glass case on the first floor. Though hard to miss, their connection with Gettysburg College is not so obvious. A plaque located below the suit reads, “Samurai Armor and Warrior Katana; Late 19th Century; Gift of Major General Charles A.
