In this collection of poetry and prose, Nadine Koochou explores her Assyrian-American identity, retracing family history and merging it with her own reflections. Through creative essays, she communicates the things she knows, to some degree of certainty. Through poetry, she communicates things she thinks she knows, or feelings she understands intrinsically, or things she does not know at all but wishes to know. Combining Assyrian history with intimate stories, she explores themes of generational trauma, language, love, war, and home.

This thesis is a novel written in the first-person point of view with two characters, Jamila and Bella. The two protagonists are identical twins who got separated at birth. The novel addresses cultural effects and explores the role of upbringing in shaping the twins' identities. Jamila is raised by her father in Saudi Arabia while Bella is raised by her mother in the United States. The storyline starts when the two sisters meet in Atlanta, Georgia, 18 years after the separation. Jamila studies business administration at Georgia Tech while Bella studies creative writing at SCAD. For the last 95 years, Nella Larsen's Passing has been a topic of discussion within the literary and scholarly communities. First considered Larsen's folly, her second novella Passing had struggled to received a compliment from critics and was quickly lost to readers until her work was rediscovered in the early 1970s. My project, “Medieval and Modern: Celtic Mythology Through the Lens of Urban Fantasy” is the result of my interest and investment in Celtic mythology, and more specifically Irish mythology, most of our knowledge of which comes from records in the medieval period, made by Christian monks. I pursued research into Medieval Celtic myth and folklore to gain a deeper understanding of those stories of mythological figures and heroes.
