THE COMPANY is a framework of urban intervention that seeks to stabilize shrinking neighborhoods through a large number of small-scale, temporary occupations of vacated buildings. Its process of quickly phasing in architecture and program over time, through testing and experimentation, is preferable to the slow, top-down planning of large-scale, more permanent initiatives. Its identity is that of spectacle and pleasure. Its architects are designers, developers, planners, sponsors, eventholders and actors.

The historic neighborhood of Brush Park in Detroit, Michigan is the first testing ground for THE COMPANY’s interventions. Its forty-four abandoned buildings will be adapted from post-industrial leftovers into catalytic …

The combination of the two offers an opportunity to institute a performative hybrid architecture. The remediation of the site can be achieved through combining the systems of the industrial and the organism. Raphael's paintings for the Stanza della Segnatura, Pope Julius II's personal library in the Vatican, are one of the great masterpieces of Renaissance art. My research project explored the rich meaning behind this innovative series of images, which project an expansive and holistic view of truth. I discovered that Raphael's message is relevant for Christians today who are trying to preserve a coherent view of truth in a complex, pluralistic culture.

The city of Celina is a small city located within Collin County in the northern part of the North Central Texas Metroplex. The city was a rural based community with a large percentage of agricultural land. However, over the past decade, Celina's population tripled from around 1800 to over 5200 people. Currently, the city is in a transition phase and is anticipated to grow and develop rapidly in the future. This study investigated the perception that mass media perpetuate critique of interior design projects using non-environmentally responsible design (non-ERD) assessment models, based on traditional ideological considerations, as opposed to models based on environmentally responsible design (ERD) philosophies. Using the Delphi technique, thirty keywords were selected, based on educators’ and practitioners’ content knowledge, then categorized into seven dimensions representing ERD or non-ERD attributes. These dimensions formed design assessment models, which included a distinction between ethical ERD attributes and aesthetic non-ERD attributes. Using content analysis, keywords were identified in randomly selected feature articles from three design magazines. Quantitative statistical analysis documented an …

Although embodiedCO2-eq analysis has seen recent developments as evident in the establishment of the ISO14040 and 14044 LCA standards, it is recognized that due to weaknesses in gathering data on product-related emissions,embodiedCO2-eq values are probabilistic. This paper presents a stochastic analysis of hybrid embodied CO2-eq in buildings to account for this weakness in traditional methods and, by way of example, applies it to an Irish construction-sector case study. Using seven apartment buildings, 70,000 results are simulated with Monte Carlo analysis and used to derive probabilistic and cumulative embodied CO2-eq intensity distributions for apartment buildings in Ireland.
