The purpose of this study was to examine how academic deans perceived the characteristics of facility built environment and its impact on learning in higher education. Q methodology was used as the means to explore the subjective opinions of academic deans within the State of Florida regarding the facility built environment’s impact on learning in higher education. For this Q study, the concourse statements were the result of communications taken from the subject literature and participant responses to this study’s online concourse questionnaire. The resulting 32 item Q sample was sorted online by 43 academic deans, associate and assistant deans. …

Kimboza forest reserve in Morogoro region, is an important biodiversity hotspot among the Eastern Arc forests of Tanzania. High population pressure and encroachment threatens its conservation values. This is based on a study which aimed at investigating the composition, diversity, and structure of the tree community in the forest. All trees with DBH ≥ 10cm were inventoried from 0.72ha in a total of 18 plots of 20m × 20m placed randomly from the forest edge to the interior. The 2010 Planning and Development Amendment Act requires Local Authorities to include core strategies in their development plans that demonstrate the location, quantum and phasing of development that is proposed to meet their future needs. The purpose of this study is to explore the use of integrated probe vehicle, traffic and land use data to identify and characterize fine particulate matter (PM[subscript 2.5]) hot spot locations on urban arterial corridors. In addition, a preliminary analysis is conducted to consider volatile organic compound (VOC) hot spot locations. A pollutant hot spot is defined as a location on a corridor in which the mean pollutant concentrations are consistently above the 85th percentile of pollutant concentrations when compared to all locations along the corridor. Planning is a diverse field with many different areas of professional practice. Campus planning, as opposed to traditional city planning, is one of these areas—different than traditional municipal, and having a unique requirements that are framed by jurisdictional, environmental, and physical planning needs of the respective institution.

Based on my experience in this role, planners need a flexible skillset that moves beyond the traditional role of processing permits and crafting zoning codes. Between 2003 and 2007, an estimated 11,120 Americans went to the emergency room as a direct result of a structural failure or collapse of wood deck railings. This is an average of 2,224 people each year. Furthermore, estimates show there are over 40 million decks in the United States and about half of these are more than fifteen years old, which is past their expected lifespan (Legacy Services, 2012). This presents projected costs and benefits of a carport style photovoltaic (PV) solar energy system, as well as its potential implementation sited in the City of Arlington. The goal was to estimate the amount of electricity generated from converting the existing sites into PV solar parking lots by assessing spatial, locational, and quantitative analysis, utilizing the available data, tools, and techniques in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Google Earth Pro. This Dissertation examines both Central Statistics Office (CSO) published and unpublished demographic evidence from the 2011 and previous censuses, so as to evaluate the 2002 National Spatial Strategy’s (NSS) selection of Gateways and Hub settlements. On its own, population is an incomplete measure of size. However, when used with emerging employment data, a robust methodological time-dynamic centrality model may be constructed based on population and Daytime Working Population (DWP) behaviour and other related and relevant investigations. Lancaster Outreach Center (LOC) has for almost 30 years provided high social welfare quality services with minimum setbacks. However, the faltering economy had a negative influence on the level of donor funding LOC expected. The decreased funding level has greatly affected LOC's operations, and the nonprofit organization no longer sees donor funding as a solid revenue source.
