The explosion that occurred at Beirut port on the 4th of August 2020 was not a transient event, but rather a dreadful disaster the Lebanese have faced. It echoed in Arabic poetry. Some depicted the disaster, some denounced it, and some depicted Beirut as a doomed city, so they lamented it. The odd thing about it is that most poets who wrote about the explosion developed short poems or poetic flashes. Their expressions came out as intense, quick, and denounced, and were therefore honest. However, the arguments presented in their poems were clashes between life and death. The results were …

Abstract: After many natural disasters, a sanitary disaster overwhelms the planet earth, the COVID19 pandemic. Alexandre Najjar writes about this crisis in a novel translate as “The devil’s crown”. The author uses the way of testimony to describe the way the characters live the confinement in different countriesand the consequences of an unprecedent situation on the psyche: fear of the other, feeling imprisoned, powerlessness. The intervention includes the analysis of the title, the choice of the polyphonyand the similarity between this novel and an ancient tragedy.

Abstract: Catastrophe, a notion as old as man, is today considered obsolete in the scientific sphere, since it constitutes "a blinding image which distracts the researcher from his object by its capacity to dazzle" (Coanus, Duchêne, Martinais , 2004). Its several physical changes signify the rise and fall of the monarchy, colonialism, modernism, nationalism, capitalism, echoing a constantly changing definition of the Egyptian public space. Designers and engineers are developing proposals for physical projects to adapt coastal sites to future sea level rise related threats. This puts pressure on local and regional decision makers to develop strategic frameworks for prioritizing, permitting and funding such projects. Defatted sesame meals were extracted for ethanol soluble sugars and the effects of different conditions for extraction were compared for the composition and yield of the extracts. Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) were generated from the hemicellulose fraction (following deproteinization) using endo-xylanase from Bacillus subtilis. The condition which produced the highest yield for total soluble sugars was 40% ethanol at 60 º C for 30 minutes for de-hulled (A) and hulled (B) sesame meal samples. Ultrasonication treatment of the samples had no significant benefit over water-bath. Sugar composition analysis of the samples showed the presence of glucose, arabinose, galactose and xylose with trace …

Physical activity (PA) provides numerous health benefits and minimizes chronic diseases and mental health issues, especially in older adults. The national survey data indicated that only 27.3% to 44.3% of older adults meet the recommended PA guidelines of 150 to 300 minutes/ week. There is limited data on PA behavior among older Asian American (AA) adults as very few to no local/national surveys have targeted these marginalized subgroups. The Live Entertainment Tax (LET) in Nevada generated nearly one billion dollars during the 2019-2020 fiscal year. LET revenue all goes to the State General Fund, even though 97 percent of LET revenue is generated in Clark County. Nevada is experiencing an economic crisis, particularly in the tourism industry. Solutions from various fields suggest the best way to boost the local economy is to reinvest revenue in its original county. One policy solution Nevada policymakers should consider is to carve out a percentage of revenue generated by the LET to return directly back to Clark County to revitalize tourism.
