As sea levels rise, it is imperative to understand the effects of saltwater intrusion on freshwater ecosystems. This is especially true in the coastal wetlands of the SE US, where freshwater forests are dying from exposure to salinity. One management strategy that could prevent salinity intrusion in surface waters are water control structures (WCS). The Great Reserve, located outside of Georgetown, SC, represents a biodiverse freshwater forested wetland affected by saltwater intrusion from the adjacent tidal Black River. Last Will and Testament of Thomas Cory dated 12 January 1731/32. Son of William Cory and Mary Earle. This was Thomas Cory's first will. Note from Dick Keyler: "notes might be helpful in tracking the ownership of the Cornell Road land that William Cory acquired in the original division of the Westport portion of the the colonial town of Dartmouth." no source given. Millford is a gem of preservation both architecturally and historically. Architecturally Millford is her- alded as one of the finest examples of Greek Revival style architecture in South Carolina, situated in an isolated area surrounded by green fields and lush forests. Historically Millford has three historically significant periods. The first is the Manning Period (circa. 1838-1902), the second is Clark Family Period (1902-1992) and the last and most recent is connected to Richard Jenrette’s stewardship of Millford (1992-2017). The Bluff River Trail (BRT) is a future 10+ mile trail along the San Juan River corridor in the 4-Corners region of the Southwestern United States. By asking, what is the land ethic of the Bluff Community? this qualitative study identifies behaviors and beliefs, or land ethics, between seven Bluff residents and the San Juan River corridor. A land ethic contributes to the social re/production of space; therefore, third space theory contextualizes intersecting and contradicting spatialities evidenced in data. Housing Designs For Sullivan, In, Laurie Wojak

2020 Fall Reports (Sullivan)

The city of Sullivan, IN has a neighborhood revitalization plan and requires new housing that will attract new homeowners to Sullivan. The IAD251 course offers Interior Architecture Design sophomores and juniors the opportunity to design their own unique home, so they were tasked with developing concepts and floor plans for Sullivan’s empty lots. The course developed ten housing designs, and six are represented in this report.

Architecture Program: Faculty Scholarly and Creative Activity

This study deals with the question of how architectural design, when applied to his­torical places, can assist in bringing an extremely difficult – notable and troubling – past to the present in meaningful ways. In particular, it examines postwar architectural designs that converted National Socialist perpetrators’ places into documentation centers on National Socialism whose explicit purpose is, above all, to present and discuss the community’s involvement in the National Socialist ideology and actions.
