Connecticut Embayment Characteristics 2022, Jamie M.P. Vaudrey, James E. O'Donnell
Department of Marine Sciences
Data on Connecticut embayment characteristics. This Excel file is the centerpiece for capturing embayment characteristics as presented in RESPEC (2022), developed specifically for this project. Some parameters such as watershed size, embayment size, and tidal range were pulled from other sources described in Appendix A of RESPEC (2022), but much of the data and indicators in the Excel file were developed for this project. Each parameter included in the spreadsheet is fully defined in Appendix A of RESPEC (2022). All data available in the spreadsheet are provided by embayment in Appendix C of RESPEC (2022), including the results of bathymetric …

Fundulus Parasite Database, Derek Garvey, Christopher Blanar, David Kerstetter
Biology Faculty Datasets
Data gathered from field sampling and literature review of presence/absence and abundance data for all metazoan parasite taxa described in Fundulus spp. populations from sample locations along the Atlantic coasts of the USA and Canada.
REVISION 03-13-2023: This revision added two tabs to the database. The "Taxonomy Key" tab was added to show the classification scheme used to group the observed parasite taxa. The "EndoEcto Key" tab was added to show the classification of each parasite taxon as either endoparasitic or ectoparasitic. The original database file can be found in supplemental content below.

Myrmecochorous Plants And Their Ant Seed Dispersers Through Successional Stages In Temperate Cove Forests, Robert Warren, Mary Schultz, James Costa, Beverly Collins, Mark Bradford
Biology Faculty Datasets
Anthropogenic disturbance can decrease woodland diversity in the species-rich herbaceous layer of eastern deciduous forests, and ant-dispersed (myrmecochorous) plants may be particularly affected due to their limited ability to re-colonize secondary forests. Consequently, we predicted that myrmecochorous plants and their keystone seed-dispersing ants would increase with time since last disturbance, as reflected by young, middle or mature forest successional stage. Specifically, we hypothesized that myrmecochore abundance and richness would be relatively lowest in the youngest forests, moderate in middle-aged forests and highest in mature forests. We also hypothesized that experimentally introducing ant bait in a regular pattern, as might be …

Wild Bee Visitors And Floral Source Associations In The Conservation Reserve Program Habitat In Ne Iowa, Ai Wen, Kenneth J. Elgersma, Mark E. Sherrard, Laura L. Jackson, Justin Meissen, Mark C. Myers
Data Sets
The spreadsheet documents data collected in the study described in the manuscript “Wild bee visitors and their association with sown and unsown floral resources in reconstructed pollinator habitats within an agriculture landscape”. Data included in the spreadsheet shows the name of each collected wild bee specimen and the flower species where the bee was collected. Data were used to construct the bee-pollinator network and calculate the network metrics for each study site.

The dataset is part of an investigation of patterns of wins and losses of two-, three-, and four-game collegiate baseball series for analysis of winner and loser, and residency effects. The dataset is a compilation of publicly available data from Atlantic 10, Conference USA, and Sunbelt conferences for the years 2015-2019.

Module 05: Public Health & Water Quality
This lesson introduces students to the module about public health by getting them to consider what does it means for a country, city or neighborhood to be healthy", what factors impact the health of people and what unique challenges do cities face in terms of public health. The goal of the lesson is to get students to brainstorm ideas and begin to start thinking about this topic. The concepts in this lesson will be revisited throughout the module. Students analyze public health data from across the world. These data sets are used to introduce the driving question for the module …

2021 Celebration of Student Scholarship - Oral Presentations
Stock options can be a useful tool in any investor’s portfolio. They allow the skilled investor to increase their leverage and possibility for a higher payout with less risk. However, they are only beneficial if the investor knows how to use them, and if they accurately reflect the price of the option. This presentation hopes to offer some insight into the binomial method of options pricing along with new adjustments to the model in hopes of reflecting a more accurate options price. This, along with the Monte Carlo simulation presented, will hopefully offer some insight into the mathematical investor’s toolbox.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of light exposure on farrowing performance in sows. Thirty sows were moved to the farrowing unit at d 110 of gestation and assigned a treatment: 12 h light/12 h dark cycle (Dark) or 24 h light (Light). Treatments began upon entry into the farrowing unit. Video was recorded continuously from initiation of the treatments until completion of farrowing. Data collected included duration of farrowing, birthing interval, and behavior during farrowing. Additionally, number of total born, liveborn, and stillborn piglets were recorded. Gestation length was different between treatments, with a shorter …
