Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The effects of 2 different types of milk (cow's and goat's milk), 4 types of flavouring (coffee, strawberry, cherry and peach) and 15 days of storage on the physical, chemical and organoleptic qualities of flavoured yogurts were investigated and the results summarised below. The results of the analysis indicate that different types of milk and flavouring had statistically significant effects (p

Effect Of Fallow, Winter Lentil, Nitrogen Fertilization And Different Soil Tillage On Wheat Yield In The Dryfarming Areas Of Central Anatolia, Di̇dar Eser, M. Sai̇t Adak, Andreas Biesantz
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
This research was carried out in two different dryfarming areas of Central Anatolia (Haymana-Ankara and Gözlü-Konya) to detect the effect of fallow and winter lentil and different tillage systems on wheat yields. According to experimental results of two crop rotation cycles, wheat yields after fallow or after lentil respectively, were in the same statistical group (i.e. no significant difference), in spite of a neglectible reduction of yield after lentil in comparison to wheat yield after fallow in Haymana. In this case it could be proved that sowing of winter lentil was more profitable instead of implementing fallow before wheat. In …

In this study the effects of wood species cutting direction, number of blades, sander grade and feed rate on the surface roughness of planned and sanded massive wood have been investigated. Choses wood species were beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) and yellow pine (Pinus Sylvestris L.) which are mostly used in furniture and carpentary industry in Turkey. "MITUTOYA SURFEST-402" (KOSGEB, Ankara, TURKEY) stylus scanner machine was used to evaluate the surface roughness. Fourty eight samples were performed and each sample was divided in to 8 equal region. Two measurements were performed perpendicular to fibers along the length of 20 mm. Sample …

The Relationships Between Penetration Resistance And Certain Soil Properties, Cevdet Şeker
Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships between penetration resistance and certain soil properties, and to develop regression equations based on these relationships for predicting penetration resistance. Field studies were conducted on four different Entisol soils in plains in the Konya regions. Below 0.2 \mum, pore-size distribution was found to be positively relatd to soil penetration resistanca and bulk density. Above 50 \mum, pro-size distribution was found to be negatively related to soil penetration resistance and total porosity.

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The salinity resistance of eight maize varieties (Riogrande, PostKLF, Postkontrol, Alkantara, G-4662 Dracma, Tarım, Fanion and Kelty), which are cultivated widely in Turkey, was investigated. For this purpose, experimental soil was salinized with 68 mmol/kg NaCl. The salinity responses of the maize varieties were compared by means of various plant parameters. According to the results, Kelty, Post-KLF, Postkontrol and G-4662 Dracma were seen to be more susceptible to salinity than the others. Under salinity stress, the dry matter yield of those varieties was influenced much less than the others and the Na and Cl content was generally found to be …

This study has been carried out to determine the bud fruitfulness (number of bunches/bud) according to their rank on the one year old cane of nine grape varieties grown in Amasya, in 1997 and 1998. For this aim, the first ten buds from base to the top of the cane were shooted under vineyard condition. It has been determined that the maximum bud fruitfulness (number of bunches/bud) differed between 2^nd and 4^th buds and the basal first bud of Antep, Asılasma, Bursa, Horozyüreği and Kızılsirke grape varieties has lower than one bunch. It was determine that the buds on 3^rd …

Turkish Journal of Agriculture and Forestry
The purpose of this study was to generate monthly areal rainfall depths in the Tarsus Plain using geostatistical techniques, and to determine the stochastic structure of areal rainfall series generated geostatistically. Data were obtained from rainfall observation stations located in the eastern Mediterranean region and the surrounding areas. Monthly spatial dependence structures of rainfall depths at the observed points were depicted using a spherical semivariogram model. The areal rainfall series was estimated using block kriging procedure. The trend, periodic and stochastic components of that series were tested statistically and modeled stochastically. Monthly areal rainfall depth-recurrence interval curves were developed for …
