At Catholic universities we have lofty and ambitious learning outcomes for our graduates. We want to provide our students with the knowledge, ideas, skills, and critical abilities needed to understand} reflect upon, and act with purpose and effect in our increasingly complex, ever-changing, global-world. We want to develop in them the intelligence and compassion needed …
Asca Code Of Ethics And The Relevance Of Eastern Ethical Theories, Amy Cook, Rick Houser
Asca Code Of Ethics And The Relevance Of Eastern Ethical Theories, Amy Cook, Rick Houser
Counseling and School Psychology Faculty Publication Series
As schools become increasingly diverse through immigration and growth of minority groups, it is important that school counselors incorporate culturally sensitive ethical decision-making in their practice. The use of Western ethical theories in the application of professional codes of ethics provides a specific perspective in ethical decision- making, but may not provide school counselors with a broad cultural perspective. We discuss the use of Eastern theories of ethics (Taoism and Hinduism) and their relevance to the ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors to inform school counselors’ work with Asian immigrant students.
Recognition Of Prior Learning In Irish Culinary Arts, Dermot Seberry
Recognition Of Prior Learning In Irish Culinary Arts, Dermot Seberry
Other resources
The emerging agenda for higher education (HE) in Europe promotes lifelong learning, social inclusion, wider participation, employability and partnership working with community organisations. Consequently, higher education authorities are increasingly recognising the significant knowledge, skills and understanding which can be developed as a result of learning opportunities found at work through individual activities and personal interests. The accreditation of learning and prior achievement is now one of the central functions of the Higher Education Authority (HEA, 2007). In exercising this function, higher education providers are increasingly considering how learning that has taken place in a range of contexts, may be assessed …

The research focused on four questions: (a) What are the background characteristics of Christian School board members? (b) What patterns exist in the Christian School board effectiveness ratings of school board members, presidents, and school administrators? (c) Are there …
Normal Schools Of The Pacific Northwest: The Lifelong Impact Of Extracurricular Club Activities On Women Students At Teacher-Training Institutions, 1890-1917, Karen J. Blair
History Faculty Scholarship
Historical scholarship on the normal schools in the late 19th and early 20th centuries has emphasized the curricular goals of these state-funded institutions. Yet the afterschool clubs at these institutions also held great importance in the lives of budding educators, both immediately and in the course of their careers. An examination of the two major types of groups that students were involved in—literary societies and service associations, both of which Washington State's three normal schools expected and sometimes required their enrollees to join—reveals several predictable and unpredictable immediate and long-term results.
