Essentially, all programs are enrichment programs. They are designed to provide for individual work, for differentiated assignments, for greater depth of learning, or for more rapid pace. Each seeks to enrich by providing more or different learning opportunities. For practical purposes programs can be categorized into the following three classifications: (1) enrichment within the regular classroom, (2) acceleration, and (3) segregation. The purpose of this paper then shall be to review research concerning these organizational patterns to ascertain their educational benefits.
