Project Management Level Up: How The Right Tools And Training Can Improve Collaboration In Your Library, Tiffany Garrett

At a growing health sciences institution with an emerging College of Medicine, library staff needed a way to build capacity towards the additional students and programs expected in the future. This presentation will share their project management methodology, developed over three years, that utilizes project management principles and emerging tools such as MS Teams and Planner. It has allowed the library to make significant changes without overloading staff or compromising transparent communication.

In 2022, the Roseman University of Health Sciences Library went through several major changes. We implemented an RFID self-checkout system, opened the library space for access outside of staffed hours, and reorganized library staff to better serve our campus population. This presentation will cover the justification for the changes, implementation process, and results from the first two months of working with the new model.

Qualitative research using a single case study approach with a semi-structured interview technique was used to extract data from 14 stakeholders in records and information management regarding the research topic. Purpose – The purpose of the research is to explore library patrons' and leaders' perspectives regarding the key challenges facing during COVID-19 and issues to be addressed in managing libraries in the UAE.

Design/methodology/approach– The researchers collected 300 patrons' and 50 library leaders' opinions by administering two types of questionnaires that tested its reliability and validity by implementing Cronbach Alpha and Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) tests. The collected data were analyzed using the R language in R Studio Software. The selected hypotheses were tested by employing the Kruskal-Wallis (K-W) hypotheses technique.
