Price Discovery And Liquidity In Basket Securities, Thomas Henker, Martin Martens Apr 2008

Price Discovery And Liquidity In Basket Securities, Thomas Henker, Martin Martens

Thomas Henker

Basket securities enable investors to purchase a broad portfolio of securities in a single transaction. We examine the link between HOLDRS, a basket security comprising stocks from an industry or sector, and the underlying stocks. We find that the price of the portfolio of underlying securities leads and is more informative than the basket price. Our results are contrary to the findings of empirical studies that use futures, which are basket securities with features less like those of the underlying equities. Our findings suggest uninformed investors can minimize adverse selection costs by trading basket securities rather than the underlying stocks.

Apics Operations Management Body Of Knowledge Framework

Karen Eboch

The Operations Management Body of Knowledge outlines the areas of knowledge required to successfully manage the processes for producing and delivering products and services. The descriptions give an overview of each area and, when taken together, define a generally accepted view of the scope of Operations Management as a field of study. As Operations Management is a dynamic filed, the OMBOK describes the current common perceptions surrounding it and will evolve over time to reflect changing perceptions and incorporate new approaches as their usage becomes prevalent.

Cultural Landscape In Mongolian Tourism, R Buckley, Claudia Ollenburg, L Zhong Dec 2007

Cultural Landscape In Mongolian Tourism, R Buckley, Claudia Ollenburg, L Zhong

Claudia Ollenburg

The Mongolian steppes and their nomads, horses, herds and gers form a cultural landscape which is the region’s icon attraction, the central image in Mongolian marketing, the key feature of its flagship tourism products, and the most heavily commoditized component of its industry. In other Mongolian landscapes, and also in the steppes of neighboring regions and the grasslands of Africa, Australia, and North America, natural and cultural heritage are treated as separate attractions. The concept of cultural landscape is heavily used in a World Heritage context, has a significant role to play in the global tourism industry, and deserves further …

Assessing The Relationship Between Loyalty Program, Store Satisfaction And Store Loyalty, Kerrie Bridson, Jody Evans, Melissa Hickman Dec 2007

Assessing The Relationship Between Loyalty Program, Store Satisfaction And Store Loyalty, Kerrie Bridson, Jody Evans, Melissa Hickman

Jody Evans

After a decade of research there is still much to understand about the relationship between loyalty programs and whether they deliver on their promise of building customer loyalty towards a store and understanding the mediating role of store satisfaction. Our results suggest that loyalty program as a summary construct, explains a significant proportion of the variance in store satisfaction and store loyalty. However, disaggregation of the construct into hard versus soft attributes, promotes greater specificity, precision and accuracy in uncovering the differential impact on store satisfaction and store loyalty.

A Face Can Launch A Thousand Shares (And A 0.80% Abnormal Return), Matteo Arena, John Howe

Matteo P. Arena

In this paper we examine the market reaction—price and volume—to the appearance of a firm in the Who’s News column of The Wall Street Journal. We differentiate between those firms whose articles are accompanied by a picture of an executive and a control set of firms whose articles on the same day are not accompanied by a picture. The results show a more pronounced market reaction to the “cum picture” articles, consistent with the incomplete information theory of Merton [1987] and the heuristic-based familiarity hypothesis. There is no evidence of significant long-run abnormal performance for the sample firms.

Advertising Creativity : The View Across The Meeting Room And Across Cultures, Lester Johnson Dec 2007

Advertising Creativity : The View Across The Meeting Room And Across Cultures, Lester Johnson

Lester Johnson

Factors that impact advertising creative excellence are investigated by surveying advertising creatives in three countries, Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, the first two of which are quite similar culturally and the third rather different. Opinions of these creatives are compared to opinions gathered, using the same survey instrument, for a sample of Australian advertisers. Not surprisingly there was more agreement among the creatives across the three countries than agreement between the Australian advertisers and any of the groups of creatives. An unanticipated finding was that Malaysian creatives were in slightly more agreement with the Australian advertisers than were Australian and …
