In 2003–2004, Prewitt and Associates, Inc., performed National Register of Historic Places testing and subsequent data recovery excavations at the Jayroe site (41HM51) in Hamilton County for the Texas Department of Transportation, Environmental Affairs Division, under Texas Antiquities Permit Nos. 3211 and 3405. The investigations were prompted by the planned replacement of the County Road 294 bridge at the Leon River (CSJ No. 0909-29-030), in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations (36 CFR Part 800) and the Antiquities Code of Texas.

The Comal Independent School District (CISD) retained Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc. (PapeDawson) to conduct cultural resource investigations for the proposed construction of a new high school (High School #4) near the city of Garden Ridge in southern Comal County, Texas. The CISD High School #4 Project (Project) includes construction of buildings, parking lots, roadways, and associated utility installation for the new school campus. After the identification of a State Antiquities Landmark (SAL)-eligible burned rock midden at site 41CM412 during the preliminary archaeological survey, a data recovery investigation was undertaken within this portion of the site.

At the request of Salt Creek Midstream (SCM), Flatrock Engineering and Environmental, LLC (Flatrock) conducted an intensive archeological resource survey of approximately 2.9 miles (15,312 feet) of the proposed USEDC 43-20 Pipeline corridor (Project) on University Lands in northern Ward County, Texas. Because the Project will take place on property owned by the University of Texas, a political subdivision of the State of Texas, it is subject to the Antiquities Code of Texas (Texas Natural Resources Code, Title 9, Chapter 191) and its associated regulations (13 TAC 26). On behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) conducted an intensive archeological survey of the 8.2-acre Wooten Parcel as part of the proposed Interstate 10 highway expansion near Columbus, Colorado County, Texas. Work consisted of visual inspection of the entire project area, including 100 percent pedestrian survey, excavation of 37 shovel tests, and excavation of 8 backhoe trenches. Fieldwork was conducted from September 3-5, 2019, and from September 10-13, 2019 by a team of two archeologists. In the summer of 2014 (June 2-July 3), SFA Archaeological Field School (ANT 440) was led by Dr. Leslie G. Cecil and had 13 students and three volunteers. The site selected was the Little Creek Community (41NA378) that was decimated by the floods of 1974. The site is approximately six acres it is under the Nacogdoches Banita Creek Park and Dog Park in Nacogdoches, TX. in area of which only 51 meters2 were excavated. Brian Bray approved the selection of the site and gave approval for excavations.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), conducted National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility testing of the Cornelio Alvarez Sr. site (41SR242) as part of the State Loop (SL) 195 project (Project) (CSJ: 3632-01-001) in Starr County, Texas. Subsequent to the field investigations, SWCA Environmental Consultants (SWCA) conducted artifact analysis, reporting, and curation preparation for the multi-component historic and prehistoric site. Investigations were conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (54 United State Code 30601) and the Antiquities Code of Texas (9 Natural Resources Code). On behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. conducted an intensive archeological survey of six parcels (Parcels 1-6), measuring approximately 32 acres along US 287, in Memphis, Hall County, Texas. Work consisted of visual inspection of the entire project area and the excavation of 71 shovel tests. Fieldwork was conducted from March 2–4, 2020. Jennifer Anderson of TxDOT served as Principal Investigator, under Texas Antiquities Code Permit No. 9246.

No cultural material was encountered on the surface or in any of the subsurface tests; no new archeological sites were recorded. No further archeological work is recommended …

Th e fi ndings of a May 28–July 2, 1996, summer archaeological fi eld school conducted by the Center for Big Bend Studies, Sul Ross State University, in cooperation with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, are reported herein. Th e focus of the fi eld school was on a 335-acre segment of the Calamity Creek valley within Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area in Brewster County, Texas. This location is a grassed 4.85 acre parcel west of Paredes Line Road (FM 1847) and between the present apartment complex, a drainage canal, and the City of Brownsville’s Hike and Bike Trail. The bike trail was formerly a Missouri Pacific railway line. The area has been heavily urbanized and the immediate project location has been mechanically landscaped to facilitate drainage. On March 9 and 10, 2020, archeologist Aaron Norment from AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) conducted an intensive archeological survey with shovel testing on three parcels of land for part of the FM 2218 roadway project in Fort Bend County, Texas. This survey is for detention ponds and a segment of outfall line where right of entry was not granted during a prior survey along FM 2218. Total acreage surveyed for the three parcels measures approximately 37 acres. This report documents the results of three separate but related projects—two cultural resources surveys and testing at one historic site. All three project areas are within the Elysian Viaduct project corridor just northeast of downtown Houston, Harris County, Texas. The work was undertaken as part of the Elysian Viaduct Bridge Replacement Project sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation, and Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted these archeological field investigations in 2014, 2015, and 2018. The Texas Historical Commission authorized these investigations under Texas Antiquities Permit Nos. 6985, 7329, and 7637.

On September 18 and 19, 2018, archeologists from aci consulting conducted an intensive pedestrian survey prior to construction of the Canyon West Water Supply Line in Travis and Burnet Counties, Texas. The project consists of the approximately 4.55-mile raw water transmission main from the existing South Central Water Company (SCWC) raw water storage tank located along Haynie Flat Road. The proposed alignment will be constructed within a 15-foot permanent easement and also utilize an additional 15-foot temporary construction easement during construction.
