Monsoons of 2010; left devastated effects in Pakistan; it wiped away thousands of houses and damaged health infrastructure. The national and international communities rescued Internally Displaced People (IDP). Alongside the other health professionals' Public health nurses (PHN) were instrumental in assisting IDPs. This is a case study of a 30 year old postnatal woman; who sustained an injury on her right breast and developed an abscess in IDP camp. The client was assisted by the team of public health nurses by timely referral to undergo incision and drainage for appropriate management. Objectives; To estimate the prevalence of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and identify its associated factors among the married women of 15-49 years, residingin the Karachi, Pakistan. Methodology: This cross-sectional survey was carried out in five squatter settlements of Karachi during 2000-2001. Information was collected regarding age, gravida, education, antenatal, natal and postnatal care, with perceived puerperal morbidities from 525 mothers, who were in their 42nd to 56th post delivery day. Univariate and multivariate analyses were computed using multiple logistic regression method. Results: The estimated prevalence for perceived PPH was 7.24%. Although self-management education programs for persons with schizophrenia are being developed and advocated, uncertainty about their overall effectiveness remains. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to examine outcomes of self-management education interventions in persons with schizophrenia. Six electronic databases were searched. Manual searches were conducted of the reference lists of the identified studies and major psychiatric journals. Randomized controlled trials of self-management education interventions aimed at reducing relapse and hospital readmissions, as well as improving symptoms, psychosocial functioning, and adherence to medication treatment were identified. Injuries associated with falls include increased costs, extended length of stays, increased mortality and morbidity, and liability to hospitals. The purpose of this study was to discover, describe, and systematically analyze universal and diverse care meanings and expressions of adults experiencing a fall while hospitalized. A focused ethnography aimed at describing the factors affecting the timing of breastfeeding initiation among Haitian mothers, particularly the specific cultural beliefs and practices was conducted in Artribonite, Haiti. A total of 25 Haitian mothers with children less than 12 months old participated in the study which included the use of interviews, observations and artifacts. A thick description was developed by integration of qualitative and quantitative data. Self-reported timing of breastfeeding initiation ranged from 10 minutes to 24 hours post birth among the 23 participants able to quantify the specific time of breastfeeding initiation. Low adherence to medications in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) results in relapses and subsequently increased healthcare costs, poor quality of life, and increased comorbidities. In this correlational study, treatment complexity and beliefs in medications were tested to determine if they are predictors of medication adherence. Through convenience sampling, participants were recruited through face book, IBD organizations, and foundation websites (n = 369 final sample size). Females comprised the overwhelming majority (81.8%) of the sample. Using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale, approximately 56% were classified as nonadherent and 44% as adherent. All newborns are at potential risk of adverse outcomes if they are not monitored for hyperbilirubinemia or if treatment for this problem is inadequate. Strategies are needed to accurately identify those newborns with clinically significant hyperbilirubinemia. Transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) nomograms offer a useful screening tool to identify and monitor newborns with jaundice, as well as a way to predict the subsequent development of hyperbilirubinemia; however, there have been few studies examining the accuracy of TcB nomograms. The purpose of this retrospective case-control study was to assess risk factors contributing to hospital acquired methicillin Staphylococcus aureus (HA-MRSA) and gain a better understanding of the burden of HA-MRSA infection in patients with spinal cord injuries. The study was also conducted to see if new information would be found on HA-MRSA infections and validate or refute current research for patients in a dedicated spinal cord injury unit at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is defined as the continued use of mood-altering addicting substances despite adverse consequences (Morse & Flavin, 1992). Nurses are not immune from this progressive and fatal disease and if left untreated, a nurse with SUD poses a double jeopardy: risk to the patients and a threat to her or his own health. Nurse education programs are implementing standardized assessments without evaluating their effectiveness. Graduates of associate degree nursing programs continue to be unsuccessful with licensure examinations, despite standardized testing and stronger admission criteria. วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาบทบาทพยาบาลที่ให้การดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวานตามการรับรู้ของพยาบาลวิชาชีพ โรงพยาบาลของรัฐและเอกชนในเขตกรุงเทพมหานคร \nรูปแบบการวิจัย: การวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา \nวิธีดำเนินการวิจัย: กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือ พยาบาลวิชาชีพที่ปฏิบัติงานในแผนกที่มีการดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคเบาหวาน ในโรงพยาบาลของรัฐ โรงพยาบาลเอกชน เขตกรุงเทพมหานคร จํานวน 341 คน ได้จากการสุ่มตัวอย่าง แบบหลายขั้นตอน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือแบบสอบถามบทบาทพยาบาลในการดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวาน ผ่านการตรวจสอบความตรงเชิงเนื้อหา และทดสอบความเที่ยงโดยหาสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาครอนบาคได้ ค่าความเที่ยง .97 สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลได้แก่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน สถิติทดสอบทีและวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนทางเดียว \nผลการวิจัย: \n1. บทบาทพยาบาลที่ให้การดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวาน ตามการรับรู้ของพยาบาลวิชาชีพ โดยรวมอยู่ ที่ระดับมาก เมื่อพิจารณารายด้าน พบว่าบทบาทพยาบาลที่ให้การดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวาน ในด้านการปฏิบัติ การพยาบาล (x = 4.43, SD = 0.56) ด้านการประสานงานและการติดต่อสื่อสารกับทีมสหสาขาวิชาชีพ (x = 3.57, SD = 0.77) อยู่ในระดับมาก แต่บทบาทพยาบาลที่ให้การดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวาน ด้านการจัดการ และประเมินผลลัพธ์ (x = 3.44, SD = 0.80) ด้านการให้ความรู้และคำปรึกษา (x = 3.20, SD = 0.65) และด้านการวิจัยและการใช้หลักฐานเชิงประจักษ์ (x = 3.19, SD = 0.85) อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง \n2. พยาบาลวิชาชีพที่ได้รับการอบรมการดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวานและไม่ได้รับการอบรมการดูแลผู้ป่วย เบาหวาน มีการปฏิบัติบทบาทพยาบาลเบาหวานต่างกัน อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ส่วน พยาบาลวิชาชีพที่มี วุฒิการศึกษา ระยะเวลาที่ปฏิบัติงานพยาบาลวิชาชีพ และหน่วยงานที่ปฏิบัติงาน แตกต่างกัน มีการปฏิบัติบทบาทพยาบาลเบาหวานไม่ต่างกัน \nสรุปและข้อเสนอแนะ: พยาบาลวิชาชีพที่ให้การดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวานรับรู้บทบาทของพยาบาลเบาหวาน อยู่ในระดับมาก ผู้บริหารทางการพยาบาล สามารถนำบทบาทพยาบาลเบาหวาน ไปเป็นแนวทางในการ กําหนดบทบาทของพยาบาลในการดูแลผู้ป่วยเบาหวาน
