The purpose of this quantitative research project was to examine the efficacy of pre-simulation progressive muscle relaxation in decreasing the level of anxiety experienced by nursing students during simulation exercises. Simulation is an important teaching strategy in nursing education; it provides an arena in which to practice skills and decision-making without putting real patients in danger of any mistakes. Student anxiety is a challenge of the simulation teaching strategy, because it can make students feel unsuccessful. When it comes to learning and teaching, there are many ways for teachers and students to maximize the amount of learning that happens in the schooling environment. The focus of this paper is the effects of experiential learning in medical education. This pedagogy is very common in many teaching strategies and is widely used, debated, and studied throughout academia. AIM: The aim of this study was to inform thinking around the terminology for 'schizophrenia' in different countries.

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study was to investigate: (1) whether medical students view alternative terminology (psychosis subgroups), derived from vulnerability-stress models of schizophrenia, as acceptable and less stigmatising than the term schizophrenia; (2) if there are differences in attitudes to the different terminology across countries with different cultures and (3) whether clinical training has an impact in reducing stigma.

DESIGN: This is a cross-sectional survey that examined the attitudes of medical students towards schizophrenia and the alternative subgroups.

Course Description & Objectives

The Diabetes Immersion elective is a 2-credit hour course offered to pharmacy students in their 3rd year of pharmacy school.

1. Demonstrate empathy regarding the impact of diabetes on everyday life.
2. Demonstrate the ability to monitor blood glucose, count carbohydrates, inject “insulin”, and adjust insulin dose based on daily experiences.
3. Discuss the impact of mental health and sociobehavioral/cultural aspects on diabetes.
4. Develop and provide diabetes education to the community.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Aga Khan University, Karachi, from July to December 2016, and comprised teaching, learning and assessment activities carried out from 2012 to 2015. Performing systematic reviews (SR) and meta-analyses is an arduous and time-consuming process that involves not only comprehensive literature searching but also record de-duplication, title/abstract and full-text screening, data extraction, quality assessment, statistical analysis, data visualization, report writing, and the creation of a bibliography. In the past several years, several digital tools and software have become available to facilitate different steps of the systematic review process. This paper aims to shed light on the dissonance caused by the superimposition of Dominant Human Systems on Natural Systems. I highlight the synthetic nature of Dominant Human Systems as egoic and linguistic phenomenon manufactured by a mere portion of the human population, which renders them inherently oppressive unto peoples and landscapes whose wisdom were barred from the design process.
