Before COVID-19 was recognized as a global pandemic involving the United States of America in March of 2020, MedStar Health employed 40 Athletic Trainers (ATs) in multiple settings. While ATs worked in the traditional setting at 17 high schools, 2 universities, and with 2 professional teams in the Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC area, they also have been used in nontraditional ways. The health system in this study attempted to increase access to mental health care with integrative group medical visits (IGMVs), a nonpharmacological intervention with biomedical care consultation, health education, and peer support. The transition to high rates of TH was dramatic in response to COVID-19, and many health systems struggled to develop optimal, efficient TH workflows. AbstractIn the United States, over 40 million adults suffer from a generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), with a 67% increase in overdose-related deaths. Research substantiates the efficacy and safety of cannabidiol (CBD) for GAD. Findings show that CBD, sourced from industrial hemp, may reduce anxiety symptoms. However, a problem exists for individuals deciding to subscribe to CBD’s oral administration because of the inability to remain compliant with the regimen. Non-specific lipid transfer proteins (nsLTPs) are cationic proteins involved in intracellular lipid shuttling, in growth and reproduction, as well as in defense against pathogenic microbes. Even though the primary and spatial structures of some nsLTPs from different plants indicate their similar features, they exhibit distinct lipid-binding specificities signifying their various biological roles that dictate further structural study. Lemongrass is a common ingredient in Indonesian traditional herbal medicine that potently inhibits carbohydrate hydrolysis. In this study, the in vitro α-glucosidase inhibitory (AGI) activity of lemongrass was compared with its in vivo activity to retard postprandial blood glucose elevation, and the bioactive compounds responsible for these activities were observed. Both water and ethanolic extracts of lemongrass (WLG and ELG, respectively) were tested in vitro for its inhibition of the sucrose and maltose hydrolyzing activities of rat intestinal glucosidase. Objective: To determine if Lactobacillus reuteri is an effective treatment for infantile colic by reviewing existing literature and performing a systematic analysis. Design: Systematic literature review. Methods: The PubMed database was searched using the terms “Lactobacillus reuteri” and “colic.” The yielded results were refined to only include human clinical trials published within the past 10 years. Results: Chau et al., Savino et al., and Szajewska et al. each found that the average crying times were significantly shorter for the L. reuteri group than they were for the probiotic group on days 7, 14, and 21.
