The paper consists of eight chapters. Chapter 1 is an introductory chapter followed by six chapters on the coaching eras. Chapter 8 is a summary containing recommendations and problems involved with writing the thesis.
The chapters on the coaching eras are organized by coaches rather than by decades or by any certain number of years. The number of years covered in each chapter ranges from five to ten years with the exception of Chapter 7 which spans twenty-one years. No more than three coaching eras are included in each chapter. A Comparative Study Of The One-Handed And Two-Handed Backhand Strokes In Tennis, Deborah Kathleen Stetson

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the one-handed and the two-handed backhand strokes in tennis skill performance of beginning junior high students. Skill in the two backhand strokes was measured by performance on the Revised Breer-Miller Backhand Drive Test with Ball-Boy Modification. Fifty-four female seventh- and eighth-grade students from Malcolm Price Laboratory School were selected as subjects. Each class was randomly assigned to either Group A or Group Band administered the Revised Dyer Backboard Tennis Test used to classify students as beginners. Some historians suggest that despite markings on the calendar the Twentieth Century did not begin in America, culturally speaking, until after the 1917-1918 war. Until that time, they assert, Americans thought and behaved as they had in a prior and more innocent age. After 1918 Americans adopted the more frenetic life-style of what has become known as "the Roaring Twenties," the "Jazz Age," or the "Mad Decade," a period which ended with the onset of the Great Depression of the 1930s.
